United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

Canary,

Just spotted these entries on the forum and ask if you managed to get everything sorted on your vehicle?
I am now looking at getting Lane Control, Traffic Sign Recognition and Perpendicular Parking all added to my L494.

I have just bought a GAP IID Tool and am convinced I have the correct hardware in place. Now I just need an idiot's guide on what to do (and what hardware I should have just in case my conviction is wrong) and I'll give it a go.

The team at GAP seem very knowledgeable and so I'll go to them if need be "Every Day is a School Day"

I was looking at perp park but its not as straight forward as just turning it on, If you half parallel park the you will notice you have 2 sensors on the sides of the front bumper facing 90 deg from the car the is the sensors it uses for parking.

Perp park needs 2 more for the rear bumper which means you will need the lower quarter of the bumper either side inserts, 2 new sensors (and possibly a new parking sensor loom although on the parts catalogue its looks like a standard loom for all)

It would be a bumper off job then remove those quarter panels (they have the clip to retain the sensor) fit the new sensor into the loom and then refit, then use the gap tool to change the CCF file.

The Censored is the bumper off as its a pain the quarter panels are not cheap and second hand ones are hard to come by, if you have an AB they are even harder to find as they have the dynamic packs which as a little scoop out of the panel (not sure there are many non dynamic models that had this fitted as an option when new)

Also if you have the dynamic pack you will also need to the the panels sprayed up body colour (unless you have the normal style panels that are just black plastic) Also you would need the head of the sensor to be sprayed body colour too so its either done before fitting or after.

I was gonna try it but in all fairness the parallel park is ok if the space is big enough but im still quicker and can get closer to the kerb so the perp feature would be cool to have an try but alot of work for something I probably wouldnt use. it would only be to add to resale later.

might be something id do if the bumper needed to come of at some point or I find a really tame body repair shop as id need the respraying done.

Hope this helps

I am writing up the Lane dep and Traffic sign retro fit so will post instructions in another post If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

So I was feeling very good with my self as I had 'successfully' used my newly acquired GAP IID Tool and managed to turn on the Perpendicular parking option.

When the CCF had been updated, the option to choose 'Perpendicular' was even showing in the instrument cluster when the engine was running.

Now, thanks to Paul, I find that I am missing two extra sensors that should be in the rear bumper and as I have an Autobiography model, they are a real pain to retro fit.

Oh well it was a good idea, but now not really worth it.

Will still look into the Lane Control and Traffic Sign Recognition though

Thank you to all "Every Day is a School Day"

Yep I wanted to but it just seem like a lot of work for something I probably wont use! Im not keeon on taking the rear bumper off either as just know it will be fiddly and dont really wanna damage any paint work as is Indus Silver and a pain to blend in If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!
