AFS Adaptive Front Lighting System warning light

Hi all,

I've had my 2010 Supercharged since last year's August and it's been an absolute treat.

However about a month ago I first noticed an issue that manifested itself in a following way.
I was driving on a motorway when all of a sudden my screen and as it seemed every other light in the car cut out for a split second and went back on. After another mile or so it happened again and this time I specifically noticed the headlights turn off and back on again for a very short moment.
After that second time I got an amber AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System) indicator pop up on the dash and both headlight beams just started pointing downwards.
Once stopped, I've restarted the car and the issue went away, plus I've parked against the wall and could see both light beams go through the start up process of pointing in every direction.

Haven't seen this issue for about a month or so, however it happened again this week, but this time I got the amber AFS light on the dash right away after only about 5 minutes into driving, but again it was accompanied by this electrical cut off that lasted only a moment. Both beams dropped as before and just as before this matter went away after a restart.

I've read that this has happened to others and some say it was indeed AFS related, however some say it was down to a battery that is on its way out. To be honest I have seen a low battery warning on the screen of the car a couple of times.

What would you suggest I try and how would you diagnose this problem.
P.S. Other threads on this forum regarding a similar matter appear to be really old and I decided to start a new one, hope that's ok.

Many thanks!

It might be worth re-seating the connection to each of the headlights, disconnect give the plug a liberal squirt of electrical contact cleaner (Halfrauds sell it), give it a couple of mins to work it's magic, shake off any excess and reconnect.
do the same for both sides and see how you get on.

Will give this a go. I wonder how many contacts there are and if all are easily accessible. 2010 Supercharged

Two tabs either de of the headlights lift up and the unit will come forwards and lift out. There is a single plug that connects to the back of the unit with maybe 15 or 20 pins. Theres a little locking collar you need to squeeze to remove the plug.

My indie told me not to use the lights switch in 'Auto' as they had seen a few burn out/short.
