Hi Tim, just watched it and the one fact that really stood out was the extras on the Bentley cost as much as the Jaguar car itself |

Must admit I rather fancied the Jag until the RR went off road and thought - Nah can't beat a RR |

One thing I did notice was that (OK maybe microphones aren't that sensitive) the FFRR and the Jag seemed to be totally silent when not pressing on, but once the loud pedal was pressed they both made as nice a noise as the vastly more expensive and much larger engined Bentley - was also a little surprised that the Bentley was the one that they mentioned needed the fuel stops, the way Hammond drove the F Pace I'm surprised it's smaller tank and harder working engine didn't require a few more refuellings even though it was a fraction of the weight of the Bentley. Maybe "artistic" licence that they just didn't mention refuelling the FFRR or F Pace! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm not sure about the Jag,but the RR probably had the valve switch off so they were only opening up above 3000/3500 rpm so when cruising it would have been a bit quieter. I agree with the artistic licence, but Clarkson really likes the RR as we could see in the film and as Mike21 said it's off road work was terrific, I doubt the Bentley or Jag would have matched that.

I thought the 5.0S/C FFRR even in SVO special Executive guise didn't have the exhaust switch, way too uncivilized for a FFRR |

I will admit, I quite fancy the F Pace, especially as my Sport is out of Land Rover Dealer Warranty in August. Maybe have to keep a closer eye on the £ to € exchange rate. |

I've looked down that route and once you try to bring the F Pace optional gear up to the same standard spec of the RRS you are getting very close to an RRS L494 HSE's price. The F Pace is RWD most of the time only allowing something like 5o% of the drive to the fronts when the computer thinks it is necessary, so it isn't really even as sophisticated as a DiscoSport or Evoque in the transmission dept. Having said that it didn't appear to lack anything in the grip department in that quarry where the had the "off-road" race. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I agree Tim, base price is always attractive, but it's never the vehicle you want |
