Parking aid/reverse camera unavailable?

Hi everyone, newbie here, owned my RRS for about a month, it's 12MY and I love it. Been faultless up to now.... But... 1st problem cropped up today when reversing onto my drive. No parking aid or camera just an error message. Locked it up and let it go to sleep and then later had to pop to the shop, and hey presto all is restored when parking at the shop. Got back in and went to my mothers and selected reverse and got the error message again? Grrrr looked on the forum and could only find info about retro fitting? Can anyone help me?

Cheers

Just an update on my progress on trying to fix my problem with my parking sensors/rear camera. Yes I get the long beep when starting the car and yes I get the flashing orange light above the front PDC button then I get the message pictured on my opening post.
I have read numerous posts on the forum regarding faulty sensors, damaged looms, chafed wires front and rear. So today, armed with my iid tool, I set about trying to find what's causing it.
I plugged it in and sure enough got a fault code (pictured below) so I removed the NSR light cluster and disconnected the rear loom, cleared the fault and tried again. The iid tool read the ecu and the fault appears again? I then removed the OSF headlamp and disconnected the front loom, cleared the fault and let the iid tool read the ecu again and the fault is still there?
How can the fault be still there with both front and back looms disconnected?
Has anyone any ideas where I need to look next?

Cheers in advance guys

Anyone? Very Happy

No seriously, I'm guessing no one has come across this fault before? So I am planning on attacking this on Saturday and think it only right in the spirit ot the forum that I should be making notes and taking photos so I can maybe help someone else in the future.

Armed with my iid tool, watch this space!

It says "Function LED"

well there is an LED in the switch.
...but that shouldn't cause it to all shut down

Don't know what it's referring to though.

yeah I thought that?
But seems strange that it would take the system out. Wish it was just a faulty switch!
Appreciate your reply Andy,

I'll definitely get to the bottom of it Thumbs Up

The DTC B1B54:12 means there is a problem with the PAM system status indicator/switch. Either the circuit between PAM module and the switch/LED is damaged/disconnected, or the Switch/LED is damaged.

Wow, that's great information!
I've just got in from work early and was going to start looking. I think I'll start by taking the NSR trim off and locate the PDC module and go from there.

Thanks very much for that Thumbs Up

Mark

Small update

Took off the NSR trim panel and located the Parking aid module, had a good look around to see if there was any loose plugs or wires but alas no. Checked any damaged wires, but all looked fine.
Plugged the iid tool in again and checked for faults again and it's still the same as before. Checked the live values of the switch and pressing the switch the tool says active, releasing my finger and it says inactive so it's obviously making a difference but not latching? It says that the LED is inactive and pressing the switch does not make the LED flash? Could it be the switch? Could it be the module? Big Cry

Look again tomorrow, anything to avoid going to the main dealer!

Switch isn't meant to latch.

I thought you would've able to turn the led on and off with the iid.

Maybe not

Thanks Andy, up and at it tomorrow!
Still learning with the iid tool, I know there are guys on here that could trace the fault in a breath, but I guess that's what it's all about, it's all experience and we pass it on to each other through this forum.

Maybe I'll have to pay in the end, but for now I'll keep trying!

Cheers

Well I have to admit that I might have to let the professionals deal with this!

Spent a full day trying to trace the fault and I've only just come in.
Firstly I plugged in my iid tool to make sure the symptoms were the same, and they were, the car gives me a 3 sec 1500HZ bleep but NO flashing led when ignition is switched on and flashing led when reverse is selected.

Unplugged the rear bumper loom - still the same
Unplugged the front bumper loom - still the same
Removed the rear bumper continuity test the rear loom check sensor connections and refit - still the same
Removed the front bumper continuity test the front loom check sensor connections and refit - still the same
Connected the iid tool and started to check live values.
It says there is a fault - but we already know this
The switch on the dash works and the live value changes when you push it in and out
The led says inactive in park but flashes on and off in reverse
The rear sounder says active
The front sounder says INACTIVE and doesn't change could this be the fault? Maybe? But I read on here that the door open warning and the bongs for lights left open warnings come from the front sounder? I don't know if this is true?
Has anyone had trouble with the front parking aid speaker/sounder?

I don't think it's your ability it's just an unusual fault.

The only thing I sometimes suggest is to change the options to say the fronts aren't fitted to see if that narrows anything down

Seem to have drawn a blank wringing anymore information out of the forum, so I'm still battling away!
Can anyone confirm wher the rear parking sounder/speaker is located? Is it the item in the first picture?

Thanks
