Little performance difference between TDV8 and 3.0TDV6 to be honest. 3.0 will give you better economy.

I'm good mates with someone who owns a garage who love their landrovers so I think they'll be servicing it for me,

I don't think that UK TDV8 have DPF as standard at all. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

other than correct service intervals, is there anything you can do to protect the turbos? when it goes in for its service is there anything preventative they can do to stop them failing? |

Personally wouldn't bother with regular service intervals as I think there to long. I change the oil and filter every 5k making sure BOTH sump plugs are removed. Always use gen oil filter and good quality oil, plus always let the engine tick over a minute or so after a run ,drivers the Mrs mad sometimes but if it helps protect the engine/turbos ..... 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Amen to all the above. Drive gently until fully warmed up and avoid habitual short runs. Use only premium fuel like Shell V_max for the cleaning additives that help keep the variable vanes from seizing and give it some long fast runs regularly and give it the full beans now and again.

guys, quick question: did the RRS ever come out with a 4.4 TDV8, as advertised here?

No it didn't. The 4.4 was introduced in L320 FFRR in 2010 if that helps. The reason RRS didn't get it was because it doesn't fit in the space. BTW that car is being listed in the blurb as a Range Rover Vogue SE and not an RRS, so maybe the wrong picture has been inserted. The RRS shown is also Siberian Silver I think and the blurb states that the car for sale is Blue, so that would be Buckingham Blue, which is very dark 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
