Putting SIM in MY2017

Hello.
Has anyone had any issues putting the SIM into a MY2017 RRS ?
I tried to get it to work for over an hr last night, but just couldnt do it. Without it, I cannot get any traffic info, and that dominates half the screen, saying this service is unavailable until SIM is fitted.
I think it may be an embarrasing trip back to dealer Embarassed

It took me at least 30 mins or so to get the sim inserted...
The 'square' end of the sim should go in first, and the chip facing the rear. It needs to be fully pushed in (by using a card or whatever....)

I bought I EE Micro Sim that LR advised to get. Despite going to the dealer, who confirmed what a silly design it was, the SIM still does not work.
The car saus "reading SIM" that it says SIM removed !!! LR say its the SIM, EE says nothing wrong with SIM.
All I want is the SAT NAV to have traffic news on and advise when there is a hold up. My old D4 did this without a SIM, my Audi does it without a SIM, why cant the Range Rover do it without a SIM (or hotspotting to a phone and having to download an APP). I am loving the car...apart from this....

Will let you know on Friday if my Vodafone SIM works when I collect my 2017 car

You put the SIM in your phone to check if its that or not.

Please let this not be the start of F-Pace style issues with this ICTP system Sad

Hi
I picked up my NEW RRS MY17 on Friday and have tried for hours with several different sims but no luck, I am going to make a trip back to the dealer tomorrow (Guy Salmon) as the in-control also wont connect. these are the only problems I have.

Might sound too obvious but has the pin code activation been removed from the sim card? Does it need to be?
I have a piece of equipment that runs off a sim card and i needed to turn the pin code off in a phone before i could insert it into the device.

After going to a dealer 9not the one I bought it from), they could also not get it to work, but did manage to "hotspot" from my phone.
Now my in connect APP does not work !!!
Go to arrange to go back to original dealer to sort it , very frustrating .
All I want is live traffic news (standard on my old D4) and the radio to interupt when traffic news is anounced (I cant get that to work either).
All this stuff is meant to be progress. Why cant it just be good old fashioned buttons like before Laughing Laughing

Hi,

This all seems strange to me!

About two weeks before I collected my AB back in March, my Dealer had their "In Control Specialist" send me a "pre-configuration form" which had all the setup options I wanted including my favourite radio stations. I was asked to complete it and drop it into the Dealers with my data SIM and they set everything up.

I got a further e-mail just before collection to set up the In control account and password.

The account was live and I could see when the car was moved to the show room ready for collection.

On collection everything was checked and working.

I'm expecting the same routine for SWMBO's new D5 on 31st March - it's a great system - cheers Yeovil Land Rover!

I think i know how to fix your problem. It took us a little while to get it working.

1. Gold side of the SIM facing forward. The flat wider side goes at the bottom and the bit with the corner cur off on the top. But remember gold part facing forward.

2. Then with a nail (quite hard) press it down till it clicks on place. My wife better at this than me ! But it does go down.

3. Then go to Settings on the screen. All Settings, Features, Connectivity

4. Then turn "On" all the options. Wifi, Hotspot, Data etc

5. Wait for the car to finish "Reading SIM"

6. Then you click through - sorry forget the exact wording - and there it lets you turn on a step further.

The car will hunt for a 3G signal. Took 15 mins the first time.

Then you "should" be good to go.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Alex

Amazed that dealers don't keep a stock of SIM's to sell on these days, then they can set it all up as part of the hand-over. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

ps.. 100% it only has 3G and not 4G... I did a speedtest.net test while there was full 4G and through the cars wifi it gave 5mb download and on my phone via 4G it was 22mb... pretty disappointing really and a bit mid boggling when 5g is just around the corner. Bottom line.. its OK for just finding out traffic and it was streaming music OK, but it could be a lot more useful when you have a car full of kids who all wont to watch youtube etc on a long trip !
