Opinion on door locks.

Hi there,

My front right door lock and rear left door lock have decided to fail! I can only lock these doors by physically leaning over and pressing the button on the lever/handle which is a pain. When I lock the doors with the key fob I can hear the motors/actuators working but the the doors just won't lock.

I'm pretty handy so I'm going to fix this myself. My question is, Do you think the problem lies with a faulty part within the lock that can be fixed when taken to bits or do I need to splash out and buy complete new lock units?

I have a 2005 RRS HSE tdv6

Thanks

Hi, I've got the same issue with one of my rear doors on the same year/spec car as yours. Reading on this forum it appears it might be a faulty door actuator, which can be bought and fitted by someone who knows how. Just search on here and you'll find all about it!

I watched a video earlier on YouTube where someone changed the little white plastic lever within the lock casing as these are also known to fail. They only cost around £5 each. The problem with the vid is that he didn't go into detail about what the actual problem was. He just said it "didn't lock"

Mine do actually lock but only when you actually press the lock button on the inside door handle. The key fob and dash board lock button doesn't lock/unlock them. I can however hear the motor/actuator energised once the key fob and dash button are pressed, this makes me think the actuators are fine and it's this physical white plastic lever inside the lock casing that is the problem.

Sure. The doors open and close fine it's just the actual locking of them with with the key fob and dash button. What I find strange is that they lock /unlock fine when using the lock button next to the inside door handle.
