Battery Advise 017 or 019?

Need advice on battery as currently have a battery with 017 printed on it, various websites show both 017 and 019 compatible for my car.

What is the difference between 017 and 019?

And would it be better to fit a AGM type battery???

I do have a spare good 019 battery at home taken of another car weve scrapped in good condition and its the same size as the one on the car, would it be ok to fit a 019 battery???

The reason for the change is the battery currently on the car is quite weak and does not hold a good charge if not driven for a few days, its been like this during the last couple of winters which I normally leave my ctek charger on but its always ok during the rest of the year Whistle Whistle Whistle RRS SUPERCHARGED, 22 INCH ALLOYS, JAVA BLACK, FULLY COLOUR CODED

The 019 holds more charge than the 017. Useful table here:
https://www.puretyre.co.uk/car-battery-specification-chart/ 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Should you need a new one - https://www.tayna.co.uk/EA1000-Exide-Premi...P7488.html "D2BOYS" code for a few ££ off. Thumbs Up

AGM - most AGM batteries are not happy with the higher charging voltages of the earlier vehicles, so check the spec if you should opt for one. You need it to tolerate 16V IIRC (though the alternator peaks just below that under normal conditions), which few do, officially so anyway.

In addition, while AGM batteries charge faster, standard wet cell batteries hold their charge better, so it can also depend on usage which works best. Personally, I wouldn't bother with AGM for the earlier vehicles.

Spain

I agree with most of what Lost for Words post, however, AGM batteries are very very good if you do a lot of short trips. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

ISTR other threads saying same as L for W not worth putting an AGM on an older car than 2010 these you can reset the BCM to deal with the AGM

don't forget to scrap your old battery its £12 toward SWMBO's xmas gift Laughing

Thumbs Up

Which Battery?

Hi

I've got the same issue at the moment, battery needs replacing in my 2007 RRSport 2.7 diesel HSE.

Current battery is the original 12v 90Ah 950A unit. I typed in my vehicle details on the tayna.co.uk website and it recommended this Enduroline unit:

https://www.tayna.co.uk/019-Enduroline-Car...P8385.html

This has higher amps at 100Ah but lower CCA at 900A.

Can anyone advise if this battery is okay to fit without affecting anything in the car?

Stratstone Swansea are quoting £217 just to supply a new Varta battery to the same spec as the original.

It's not a massive difference. Considering the price difference worth a go and should last a few years
