United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Stornoway Grey

Thanks Disco_Mikey Very Happy

Denso unit ordered but Britpart one arrived, hopefully not a problem as it has 2 year guarantee as opposed to 1 year for Denso unit.

I had checked all of the fuses and all ok. The previous LR technician turned up with code reader. Switched on the ignition and started the engine. Yes, the B***** light went out. He says that some of the cars need to go through the drive cycle so that the computer recognises the fix.

Thanks for your help and I hope this last little bit helps others.

Regards

Rae

Similar issue

Hi all, I had a similar detail with the battery. Light came on, got new Alternator (Lucas) from Europart. Got it fitted, it didn't work with old battery, new battery installed, now car has gone haywire! Well the suspension has dropped to bump stops, compressor overheating, I think the new battery may be boiling too as it had a strange smell when I left it. Clearly (in my opinion) there is too much current coming from the new alternator? Has anyone seen this before? Is the fix a new alternator to battery cable? The reason I say that is because there is too much current being drawn and the only thing I can think of is a rusty/poor connection, creating extra resistance but requiring more current due to this? I didn't fit the bits as it seemed like a lot of work to attempt at your front door without the correct gear. I'm fearful of getting it to the LR dealer as they would probably change batt and alternator and hit me with an £800 bill!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony

Sorry to hear this has happened but it is not the end of the world , I had the same a while back.

I contacted Dakar and spoke to Martin Hind , he is a mind of information and should be able to help you , they are in Swanley, Kent , I have used them for everything even to correct mistakes made by the main dealer.

Good Luck

Tony

Progress

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I took it down to the garage I normally use and he tested the output across the battery. It was sat at a constant 15v. He going to swap it out for another alternator, I should get a refund for the one that's in as it must be faulty? I drove it to the garage this morning and the Voltage never dropped. Hopefully a new one will fix this issue.
Best regards

Tony

It's a 57 plate with 128k on her. Stills purrs like a kitten. I expect the Denso Alternator that came off was the original, this new Lucas one must have an issue with the voltage regulator
