Range Rover Sport 2011 (61reg +) questions

ive been a lurker to this forums for a long while , but the need to replace my dying 2007 diesel civic is questioned everyday
My early indication was to purchase a Mokka to get into the SUV scene , then thought Sportge, Tuscon, Sante FE, X5 (2012+)

But thinking long and hard, it came down to a RRS, and the only car that would i not like to be sitting next to at a traffic light would be a 2013+ model RRS as its newer.

so Im after a 61Reg RRS facelifted, im thinking Autobiography I know what this gives externally,
but what additions are there internally if it is just the "motif" then maybe I can save £2-3K by getting a HSE with Autobiography styling - If i can have some thoughts please

Tank Mileage, how big is it on a 3.0sdv6 64ltrs or 80+ and expected tank mileage (i get 460 on my civic 50litrs) this is not a mpg comparison but i do around 1200 miles a month, (60 a day) and knowing expected range helps
Do RR recommend you half or full fill or is this a question RR owners do not think about.

Honda Dealer Servicing costs are not cheap so im expecting £500 a year for a RRS service is that correct?

im aware of £505 a year Road Tax which I can justify that for the sheer joyment im expecting from the car.
Im not sure what else i should look for on the RRS, (Dealer purchase preferred) but i think the prices have shot up on Autotrader around £2k as its winter and dealers seem to be £3k+ for the same spec but LR warranty surely is a no brainer?

In the meantime i will keep reading all the threads that apply and love the detailing threads the RRS sure looks stunning when looked after

I think I get 480 to a full tank. Also do 60 a day round trip. Mostly motorway.
Personally I would save dosh and get a HSE but I don't like blingy AB styling Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

Hi,
I get about 490-500 miles on a full tank. I always fill the tank when it is down to a quarter full.
A type service I paid £470, B type service £525.
I have had my AB from new, now done 42000 miles and had no problems.
It is the best car that I have ever owned. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone
Driving a milk float for now.

Thanks guys, how big are the tanks on these beauties?

Are rear seats heated on HSE and above as standard?
Any issues with pairing the 2012 spec with a Iphone 6S mobile for contacts connectivity

A 61 reg would invariably by a 2012 model year car registered in late 2011 or early 2012. I stress this because if you search for RRS 2011 you are likely to see the older model... ie 3.0 TDV6 with 6 speed box and split tailgate.

I have a TDV6 and the most I have got from a brimmed tank is 400 miles (long motorway runs). 300 miles if all around town. The 3.0 SDV6 8 speeder is better economy-wise, and they are better to drive I am told. I think they are 85 litre tanks.

I have a 6s and have no Bluetooth contacts issues.

Coming from your Civic, I strongly doubt you would be disappointed with the HSE trim. I also doubt you would improve an HSE by changing the body trim... opinion is split, but I am in the camp that says factory spec body is best and gives an 'honest' look (and cheaper insurance). Plus save your money for mechanical maintenance.

The Autobiography would give you better hifi, extended leather trim, perhaps more seat functions, but it depends what options an HSE owner may have specced. I ordered the HSE Luxury pack which was awesome value (vs an AB), so look out for HSE Luxury models. Someone on here may be able to upload the standard vs options from 2012 MY. MY HSE has heated rear seats but that may have been the Lux pack.

These cars are seriously expensive to run vs something well made like a Civic. I budget £3000 a year for warranty, servicing, maintenance, road tax and insurance and I accept that this could double if I had a bad / unlucky year. Something will probably go wrong every year, some eligible for a warranty claim, some not. I do 6000 miles a year in mine. I had to replace a shock absorber this year... £600 for the part alone. Turbo actuator in 2014? That cost about £1000 fitted. You get the idea. If you walk into this thinking you will have no problems (like ravingmad says below) then you should go large in Vegas cos you have Lady Luck in your side!

First step is to get yourself a test drive of a 2012 MY SDV6 HSE it seems, and then you'll find it easier to make some decisions.

Good luck, excellent choice, let your heart rule your head and you'll feel grrrreat!* Thumbs Up

I would either go for HSE or real Autobiography. AB is much more than just a body kit as explained above. If you like the Autobiography look (not everybody does) and your budget allows, go for that rather than SE or HSE pretending to be AB. If not, MY12 (61 plate onwards) HSEs are very nice in terms of spec and you will not regret. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I would agree about £3k a year including warranty.
I have the Land Rover extended warranty which is considered the best cover, cost £1k a year.
If they go wrong it can be expensive so a good warranty is essential.
Touch wood not had to use mine, but peace of mind is nice.
I Have the 6s and no problems syncing it to the car, fairly seamless.
Good luck with your search. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone

You need to budget for maintenance beyond servicing: tyres, batteries, brakes and other wear n tear items, and other stuff not covered by warranty. So £500 per annum on average as a minimum.

We are a one car family. The RRS excels at being suitable literally for everything- stylish, rugged, easy to drive. It's a superb cross-continental express, Cornish lane plugger and shopping car - I never head to Waitrose without it! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Oh the USB streaming for Music and Video how does that work, is it a case of dropping mp3 and avi files onto pendrive. or does it have to a special format and in a certiain folder?

Regards RRS ownership it definately a lot lot more than a civic

£550 insurance
£130 Road Tax
Servcing £150
Warranty None
£fuel a year 30 it sure adding up.

Hardly surprising - not many Civics have air suspension, torque converter autos, high and low range gear boxes or 4WD. We have 2 Civics, a Jazz, a Disco4 and 2 RRS's in the family. When a long trip is planned the Hondas all stay at home! Mainly because their suspension is so dammed hard it is unpleasant and tiring on a long trip. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I see nobody has mentioned depreciation in these calculations, but you can easily say 20% per annum. If you have to calculate all these costs and then compare to a Honda, then I would advise you don't bother!

My 2013 RRS1 (bought approved used from a dealer and part-exchanged at the same dealer after 21 months) depreciated @ 6.8% pa. While I recognise the fact that I got a great deal and this figure is by no means representative, I still wouldn't expect a used RRS1 to depreciate as much as 20% pa. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
