INteresting door lock issue 2012 RRS

Hi,
I have a RRS 2012 SDV6.
it has begun to display an issue with the door locking.
Normally press the button on the keyfob and the doors lock, mirrors retract and alarm sets.
I noticed that now it is hit and miss, when the fob is pressed all the doors apart from the drivers door lock, the alarm sets, the mirrors do not retract and the alarm bleeps twice showing there is a door open.
This is obviously the drivers door.
The door opens fine with the exterior handle and from inside using the lever.
What seems to be happening is the "locking toggle ?" above the opening lever isnt moving fully.
If I press the drviers side toggle and lock from the passenger side, press the fob everything works fine .i.e. doors lock, mirros retract, alarm sets.
Now sometimes the car will lock ok, but its gets rarer.
I can lock and unlock the doors using the master lock on the passenger door and drivers door ( well I am 90% sure i can).
So, is it a latch / cable or actuator issue guys?
I am pretty handy with the spanners so happy to take the door apart, but what should I look for?
Thanks

It does sound like a lock solenoid/sensor/actuator is at fault & these are known to fail. I don't know exactly how to change it, when my rear door lock went faulty it was replaced under warranty.

Can you still lock the door by pressing the little black square on the door handle? That may be a temporary solution until you get the lock/sensor changed.

I'm sure if you do a search on this forum there will be more info on it. Failing that one of the more technical guys on here may be able to advise. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

same issue, its the actuator....have to reach in and lock it from the inside, or leave window open, reach in and press the lock, then hold lock on the fob and the car locks and the windows roll up

researching on here its about £200 to fix (£100 part, 2 hours labour)

will prob ask them to do it when its in for service, try wrangle some off

To the OP: it does sound d like latch failure although when same happened to my car there was no horn sound on locking and it doesn't have auto mirror retract.

If you search on the Disco 3 site you'll find some excellent posts with walk throughs showing how to remove the door latch and dismantle and service it.

There are three options to try:

1. Open up the latch to access the motors and clean the electric motor commutator and brushes.

2. Replace the motor with an identical £5 unit that can be bought on eBay.

3. Buy a complete replacement latch at usual extortionate price.

Luckily the driver's door latch is the easiest one to get at and change.

Best of luck! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Some great replies guys,
I am going to open the door up in the next couple of days and have a root about.
Not tried the button button to lock it, I will try this evening. TBH I never thought of that.
Cheers

I taped up the window to keep it in the fully closed position when I did my driver's side. It seems there is more than one way of doing the job though. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hi Chaps,
sorry the delay.
I discovered I had an extended warranty on my vehicle Smile
So I booked into the dealers and the latch was replaced under warranty.
Took them an hour to strip it and an hour to put it together or thereabouts, factor in the car being cleaned.
Even though I didnt repair myself I thought I would let folks know what happened and what is was, so if they have the same symptons it will give them an idea.
Cheers
