If you're willing to fit a new engine why not take the current engine out and rebuild it ?

Hi socast thanks for yr reply yeah I was thinking that. Do you know If they suffer from crank shaft problems? I just don't understand how it can go as easy as that I know I used the right oil maybe the oil pump failed but didn't get no warning ie the oil light coming on? |

I'm no expert on the 2.7, but as far as I know their cranks aren't a known weakness. Turbos and egr valves are a bit of a weak spot and I've seen a few issues with camshafts but no cranks.

I think there is an issue with plain bearings moving because of the design - there is no tab to prevent them doing so, they move and that blocks the oil way resulting in "bang!". 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Socast - Sorry - bad information - as RRSTDV8 has mentioned the 2.7 and to a lesser extent the 3.0s have a known and major issue of crank failures caused by the bigend? bearings moving and causing the crank to fail. Well known, there is even a Landrover communiqué on the topic somewhere on this forum.

Hay thanks for the info so what's stopping it happening again once you re ground the crank? and do the mountains of works that's needed wow can't believe the design fault in this day and age. I'll have a look for the thread is there any modifications to stop it happening again get thanks |

My mistake, but in my defence I did say I'm no expert on the 2.7 haha. |
