Hi all,

I am looking to buy a RRS (3.6/4.2 L320) shortly and seen one that I like but with the following advisories on previous MOT:

front Brake pad(s) wearing thin (3.5.1g)
centre Exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2)
rear Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)

Any idea if they are major issues and to avoid the car or roughly how much should I budget to fix? I am in the UK.

Well if you are handy with a socket set and spanner the brake pads and brake pipe will cost around £50 for parts plus your labour.

You may be able to spot weld the centre box but, in the long run, will be better off replacing it.

Thats the site I pulled then information from. Those advisories have been there for last two but only tyre related stuff other than that in last 4.

Nothing there is major, depends if your taking it to a dealer or just your run of the mill garage as to what to expect, but to be sure pick up a phone and just ask for quotes on replacing pads and brake pipe. Most expensive ide say would be the exhaust in case it wasn't from a joint, and it was a section that needed replacing. Exhaust I would go to a dedicated exhaust centre, rather than a dealer.

I would take it to an independent rather than dealer. Any idea of rough cost for exhaust?

I am a little clueless with stuff like this as most other cars have been new with warranties.

I would probably be tempted to have a look at the brake pipes , especially at the rear where they are difficult to see . Like you I checked the mot history on a recently purchased 2006 s/c , the brake pipes had been advised 2 years in a row......some good pressure on the pedal and I'm sure they could of popped.

Just had my break pipes done last week by an indy, 3 of them needed cutting back to clean and joining up. £250
Chances are if one has gone they are probably all similar condition.

Yeah that pic doesn't look too good mate. Other than it looking something like that I wouldn't have any idea what to look for..
