p.s I bet you still drive in a old bedford that give more polusion then 10 range rovers together.

Robin the sunflower does have a point about the inadequate fuel consumption of these new RR's. They are made of aluminium now and still do hopeless mpg's. Aircraft engines have come along in leaps and bounds for efficien by comparison.

As for the 4x4 debate, you can drive whatever you like, don't let anyone say otherwise!

Hi Tim, I was under the impression the new RR's were made of a honeycomb aluminium as is the new sport? With traditional steel chassis. Am I talking total , if so I'm sorry. The question then would be why aren't they made of aluminium?

The RR doors are made of a die cast alu I'm sure thats why they so light?

As is the RR's bonnet - it is the largest single Al pressing in the world! The upper section of the Sport's rear hatch is plastic. Freelanders front and rear wings and bonnet and outer rear door skin are also plastic 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You would think with more and more of a car having to be recyclable that LR would use more Alminium and plastic in their cars.................. once steel is chemically treated and painted just about all it is good for in it's next life is reinforcing bar! I took a 70000 tonnes ship to BanglaDesh 8 years ago for recycling(scrapping) - it was worth it as the ship had been one of the largest containerships in the world when it was built in 1969 and was massively over-engineered as in those days technology and computers could not do the things they can now. The ship was built of both Very High Tensile Steel and Stainless Steel, and even after 30 years service it was still suitable for recycling, it's probably now been made into millions of razor blades and thousands of cars! The sale of that one ship kicked up so much fuss with the tree huggers that the company I worked for opened their own ship recycling facility (aka a scrapyard!) in China where nobody could get to it to demostrate/ make a fuss, depriving 1000's of Bangla Deshis of a living. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I seem to remember there being a documentary on TV years ago about the ship dismantling businesses in Asia - I guess maybe that was Bangladesh or India. They were saying it took years for them to dismantle the whole thing... kept them in work for ages. There was this clamour of people who pitched up at the ship yard when they knew a ship was coming in for wrecking, all vying for jobs. Quite incredible...
