A friend of mine runs a smallish independent car rental company. Over 10 years in business he says that Mitsubishi is the most reliable brand followed by Toyota and Hyundai about the same. He doesn't have much long term data on of Kia as he has only added a few over the last 3 years, but they should be the same as Hyundai. He has a couple of Subaru XVs which are doing well. Because his business is independent he keeps his cars longer term so always looks for reliability. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

My other half has had Lexus IS cars for many years and our experience with the dealer has been just as you describe. They are MUCH better than Mercedes, BMW and Land Rover who just seem arrogant and don't really care if they sell you a car or not. Regards Malcolm |

We seriously considered a 450h F Sport. As you say it drives nice and the dealer was offering quite an incentive for Sept delivery of stock cars. In the end 2 things decided us against it although I'm still not sure we made the right decision. One was the CVT gearbox and the second was the wife preferred a DIscovery Sport. |

Just had chat with my accountant who is thinking of getting one too - reckons I will get £6k off my company tax 1st year, interest payments will be tax deductible and only cost me £500 personal tax plus no longer tieing up my money in vehicle and paying loans out of personal cash already taxed
