Well as I'm sure you've already guessed, it's faulty so you can either get it repaired or find another unit at either a breakers or eBay. Replacement unit will probably be the cheaper option though, good luck.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Ok thought so but I was hoping there maybe a fix, I'd there an upgrade that you know of that would fit instead of replacing it with the same one. Thanks a lot it's great to chat to someone that knows what there talking about.

You might be able to get hold of a used unit from a forum member if you post up a 'wanted' in sale or wanted section?

If you want to replace the head unit with something more modern (or even a tablet) then there are loads of posts by folk who have done that in this section: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/in-car-electronics-vf28.html

Expensive though!

Cheapest option - don't bother with CDs at all and just use your smartphone with a long lead (lightning connector/jack) plugged into the aux jack socket at the rear of the centre console. Or use a cheap bluetooth dongle in the aux jack. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

hi- new to this Forum but not to RRS as Ive had my 08 for about 2 1/2 years now. I have it dealer serviced but having worked on cars all my driving life, i like too have a go before I pay the garage to rip me off!
I recognise/realise these cars are not MGTF'S or Freelanders, but i love it to bits, always feel good driving it and just clocked 60k now.

Its going in for MOT next month and i have a few issues
1. the Aircon is sporadic- worst is after about 3 hours running there no airflow. If it is packed up for a few hours- it all comes back, chilled air and above all- FLOW

2. i have the dreaded vibration at about 75 mph...No, its not the wheel- balancing as it was checked last service.

i live in Maidstone , Kent- the car came from Barretts of Ashford.

Just joined as the wife and I have decided to sell our 2012 Volvo V60 and buy an early RRS (somewhere between '05-'10) after we've had some building work done and have the cash left over. So I thought i'd register and start learning about our future purchase as I've read some scare stories about turbos, air compressors & oil pumps. Just can't make my mind up between 2.7 TDV6 or 3.6 TDV8?

Hi I,m Steve, I live in Ivybridge south devon, I have just bought a 2005 RRS 4.2 sc model, all seeems ok but did notice that when i apply the handbrake it makes a very loud noise, any one have any ideas on what could be causing the noise.

Welcome to the club. What you are hearing is the H/B actuator, if your lucky you might get away with servicing and adjusting the hand brake. Worst case is you will need a new actuator.
If bough from a dealer then take it back and get them to sort it, not sure if a private sale hopefully someone will be along who knows more about that, good luck.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

thanks camelrock, i have read up a bit about that module, i.ll let a mechanic look at it in the week.
it does seem that some people dont use the electronic handbrake just put the gearlever to park, but im guessing i will need the handbrake working correctly for the MOT

I've been on the forum for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd say a quick 'hi'. I've just bought my first RRS, a late 2007 TDV6 in Java Black with Ivory interior. Found the forum great for reading up on what to look out for prior to my purchase. Got loads of questions that I will no doubt post in the coming weeks.
