Purchasing Advice

Newbie here, been to look at a RRS today at a LR dealer. Looking for some guidance......

It's a white 63 plate reg in Jan 2014 with 24,000 on the clock, Autobiography Dynamic spec 3.0 diesel, black contrast roof, privacy glass, 7 seats, heated steering wheel, red brembo brakes, 21" split spoke alloys, sunroof, cirrus alston headlining, fixed side steps etc. So quite a good spec.

I've done some research online and the price quoted to me £58,995 seems very good.

What are peoples thoughts, is this a good deal? Looking on LR Used Approved the last week or so, there's been nothing similar at less than £61k. Should I get back there first thing tomorrow armed with a deposit?!

And coming from a more generic point of view; what are peoples experiences of negiotating with LR dealers? Not that I may want to negotiate, if this is a good price! But what sort of discounts/offers/incentives are they able to offer.

Any guidance & tips will be really appreciated.

Hi & welcome, the price is about right for a LR dealer as you'll get the 2 year approved warranty.I gave £60,850 2 month ago for a 2014/14 plate 27000 miles in white with similar spec.

Do go prepared to negotiate. In my experience with main dealers there is always something to be gained. The last two times I have traded in with a main dealer I have been asked: "what do I need to do to close the deal today?", or words to that effect. I've gained a reduction in the price I need to pay (whether that is an increase in trade-in value or reduction in price is irrelevant) , and/or things like a new set of rubber mats, paintwork protection, replacement of part-worn tyres etc. etc.

Always worth a try.

Last year when I bought my RRS I managed to negotiate the following:

- Free 5 year Maintenance Plan (cost £650) - best deal going even if you have to pay!

- Free set of rubber mats (cost around £300)

- Free AutoGlym LifeShine paintwork treatment (cost £300)

This was on top of a 6% discount on the price of the vehicle on ordering. However, I was a cash buyer with no trade in. However, gives you an idea of what you can get. Remember, those that don't ask - don't get!

Thanks Rich and Jock. Jock, I presume that was a brand new car? Not sure I'd be able to get 6% off an approved used.

Hi David,

Yes, you are correct, that was on a new vehicle. However try for a discount on the asking price and go for everything you can. The reg is just changing and the dealers will need space on their forecourts.

Best of luck,
