P0730 p0735 transmission problem help please

morning friends

I got a issue with my 2008 2.7 tdv6 rr sport gearbox

I've just rebuilt the whole engine which is another story. Anyway I've dropped the engine in pit the body down and turned the key.

All is well with the engine but I could hear a noise from the gearbox.

Took it for a slow drive around my garage complex and everything was fine. Took it back out around the complex for the 3rd time and it was like the clutches were slipping. More revs to move ect. Drove it 20 steps back to the garage and heard a bang and that's where I am now.

Lost all drive in every gear. As soon as you select a gear it comes up with the faults listed above.

I have read about the codes and most turn out to be gearbox rebuild but I'm not so sure with only 20k on it. Plus was perfect before engine out.

I will rebuild the transmission myself if it's broken but would like some info on if there is anything to check before taking it out or apart..... Yes I'm more than competent.

Any help for a suffering rr owner would be brilliant

Thanks in advance

Jon

The codes refer to the slip between input and output shaft speeds being too high. 0730 is incorrect gear ratio, 0735 is fifth gear incorrect gear ratio. The speed sensors are part of the mechatronic unit and aren't serviceable items apparently. Perhaps, as you say, it needs a rebuild of the box itself but it's odd that it's suddenly gone when you've put it back together. First thought is: did you put it back together correctly? Not meant to be a "go" at you, but if the only thing you've done to it is take it out and put it back then it's the first thing to check.

These might be of interest (although a tad old):
