Hi, not sure about the alternator. How would I check that? what problems would a bad alternator cause. As for the exhaust it doesn't kick out black smoke anymore since the exhaust was changed. The problem now lies in their being a hole in the exhaust that causes a whistling noise. |

Low battery power can give you lots of faults that are just because there's a lack of voltage Try a local auto electrician and see if they can test your alternator output If you do a search on Here it will tell you what the correct readings are meant to be and what to turn on and off to see voltage drops 61 AB 5.0 supercharged rocket 07 HSE TDV8 with lots of toys EGR removed BAS remap 56 HSE WAS FULL OF PROBLEMS |

For a start, there is no fluid in the ride height system. Sounds like you have dynamic anti roll bars. If it's losing fluid then it's leaking. Get that sorted because a failing anti roll bar will cause some other issues if the stability system gets confused. This might be why your brakes apply. The knocking noise needs more info. Is it at low speed when turning or something else? A ticking noise at low speed with lick applied points to the CV joint. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

The mechanic failed to find a leak and put some sort of conditioning treatment in to help with the seals apparently. That was what he said the first time I took it to him. The second time he said it could be a ram?? Leaking. And that that part would need replacing? What ram? The third time he said he re calibrated something. Either way the reservoir still needs topping up often and the fault still occurs, but what you are saying makes sense.

The anti roll bars are effectively a hydraulic ram connecting the two ends of the bar. They sometimes leak. If it is leaking from the ram part then you need a new bar. That'll be £1200-1500...

Cheers for the advice. Is there a treatment I could put into the fluid reservoir that might help the seals or stop the leak? Similar to what you can put into the power steering reservoir?
