Tyre wear in sawtooth pattern (Feathering )

My RRS had a slight pull towards left and dealer adjusted the wheel alignment and swapped the rear tyres to front as the original front tyres had its outer edge warn in a saw tooth pattern. After around 2000 miles I I've noticed that same on the front tyres again so showed it to the technician while getting the AD blue top-up. After test drive and checking the tyres he is saying that its normal wear, when I run my fingers I can feel the sawtooth pattern and I never had a similar with my previous cars. Inner edge of the tyres don't have this pattern , only the outside edge.
Is it normal on L494, could someone please check, I have done 11000 miles on these tyres now.

I have 22" wheels and my tyres are hardly worn at all at 12000 miles, certainly no uneven tread wear patterns. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Just make sure your pressures are correct in the first place. After that, get the dealer to confirm your geometry is correct.

We do see this on test cars when we're leaning on the tyres a bit trackside but not too often on the road.

Alignment is out,,I have 22's on my sport & ive done 8000 miles on them & they all have 6mm of tread left & wearing even.

Off track a bit , I bought a car many years ago that was sold to me as needing a problem sorting wth the clutch. It wasn't the clutch that was causing the judder , it was all four tyres were at 22 psi not 2.2 bar.
Something that is definitely underestimated and not checked as often as needs be in the motor trade .

Which tyres have you got? I remember people used to complain about Continental tyres on L320 wearing at edges/feathering. It was classed as another "characteristic". Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Thanks for the replies,
tyre pressures are correct and Tyres are 21 Conti.
Dealer had a another look and agreed that something is not right, and said that wheel geometry is correct so they have sent a technical query to LR so lets wait and see.
I do use the dynamic mode frequently but not at excessive speeds.

My L320 TDV8 has feathered the front tyres since I bought it 5 years ago. Done it on 20in and 19in tyres. I think there's an inherent issue with the air suspension. The air suspension system allows a large tolerance in ride height on any given wheel. Ride height changes affect camber (although not toe it seems from experiments on the ramp) and changes in camber will affect tyre wear. We set the car to tight tolerance for the alignment and then normal tolerance for usual use.

I've had alignments done and even when all of the settings were at or very near ideal settings, it still wears the front shoulders. The N/S/F is the worst. Most of my mileage these days is on dual carriageways so it's not fast cornering that's accounting for it. Elsewhere I don't drive like an 18 year old anymore so I'm not sure it's fast driving per se either.

I keep meaning to try a new air suspension module having had new height sensors and valve blocks all round previously. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

May I ask what type of four wheel alignment you have had?
I ask because there is different types of systems in use and those available in most tyre fitters are not suitable for our RRS cars. The cheaper ones with a very quick mirror on each wheel two minute sort are a real No No. (Not the women's shaver Very Happy ).
There is generally the only one system recommended for our cars and it can make a big difference to the result and that is the Hunter Alignment Systems (Hawkeye elite) many LR dealerships have different but often advise to use this companies equipment.

Other readers may feel differently and had better service elsewhere, I respect those comments and only advising from Professional reviews of tracking systems. John

It's the Hunter system Thumbs Up

My local LR dealership used Dunlop gauges on my RRS after fitting a new steering rack. I kid you not. And this was only after I queried why there was no alignment check done at all. Apparently their alignment bay had one of the technician's car on the ramp in bits and they couldn't use it. Suffice to say I don't go there anymore. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I was thinking that that different suspension heights must be having a impact on the tyre wear, but ours stay at one height during all on road driving.
cars that lower the suspension height at faster speeds to improve the aero dynamics must be having this issue a lot as lowering basically change most of suspension values.
This is the report I got when they did it first time, report itself docent say if its a hunters system of something else
