That would be good to no when fault first occurred, no haven't removed any fuses, ( do you mean the fuses looping the wires) they look ok from what I can see. Iv just been reading about a Land Rover recall for Airbag clock spring alignment fault. I'm really hoping it is the clock spring. I'm going to join the wires back to the plug it meant to be attatched to and PRAY it won't damage anything. |

You will have to hope that nobody cleared the faults after the bodge, as if it stops the fault occurring there may be nothing to show, if you just the remove fuses I would think it will put SRS light on.

The SRS light is on, it came on today so I investigated and That's when I found the chopped wires. |

Has one of the fuses blown?, if the SRS light is on the you may have to have it put out by a Dealer /Indi as not sure it resets itself after fault is rectified or not.

Just double checked fuses and both ok, what I can't understand is if light is on due to that wiring why was the light out when test drove it and drove for couple days. It would make sense if a fuse blew then the SRS light came on but they are ok. |

I suppose it could be a entirely different issue, I think until you have the codes read and reconnect the plug it is just complete guess work which apart from give yourself a headache will not really help.

Yes think my best bet might be to solider join wires bk together, take to get codes read and deleted and just wait until fault rears its ugly head and get read again and hopefully will have better understanding. Thanks again. |

Well soldiered the wires back to plug and called a mobile mechanic and he read codes and it saying somthing like drivers airbag 1 & Drivers airbag 2 deployment, so he cleared faults, light gone out, he said if/when it comes bk on give him call he will read again and find out what fault actually is. ( mentioned clock spring to him and he said it's not un common for people to bypass it due to cost,, but seriously people putting a cost on safety for the sake of few hundred quid REALLY. |

Your car shown in your profile is 11years old you may find that the routine replacement of the igniters/ detonators for the airbags/ seat belt pretensions is over due and was flagged up as a warning on the dash. They will still work but possibility not so efficiently and the last owner has chopped the wires to get rid of the warning light. If the airbags really have been triggered then you need to be looking for collision damage having been rebuilt................ 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim, I have just updated my profile, the 1 that was on there was previous RR SPORT, I have recently purchased a 2006 HSE, I did a hpi check on car and nothing came bk, no previous vehicle Id checks, not written off, etc, etc, last owner only had it for 3 months so that gets my alarm bells ringing. |

Could still need replacement explosive detonators as they usually have a life of only 10 years. There is only the tiniest amount of explosive in them but it does have an expiry date. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Is that something I can do Tim or is there a hint somewhere ( explosive ) that means main dealer only. I did disconnect both bolt fixed connectors under drivers/passengers seat but the battery was disconnected & removed airbag. Just a matter of waiting for SRS light to come bk on and get codes read again.. |

I'm not sure airbag detonators and seat belt pretensioners are DIY jobs, maybe Bodsy would know. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
