Just read this thread - I gave our lass a telling off cos she reckoned that one of the trims 'just fell off' and I didn't believe her.
luckily she didn't run over the trim so I just pop riveted it back on

never seen any trims for sale apart from with the rest of the step though
Sad

Just ordered my set of side steps so will have a good look at them before installing and perhaps modify to prevent them falling off if I can. May even put up some pics of it to aid others throughout the process.
Could anybody tell me what they are made out of as would like to get them powder coated the same colour as my wheels before installing them too.
Thanks.

my silver trim has fallen off but i have it in tact - i will try using self tapping screws to reattach it- but there are not any existing holes on the silver trim so how do i attach that to the black side step anyone got any recommendations- do i need to drill a hole into the aliminum and then use the screw?

I also wondered this as one of mine has fell off.

There doesnt seem to be anything to screw to from the back?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

all sorted and I thought I'd do a write up:

1. raise car for easy access:

2. chisel off rivets and pop out ends attached to side strip:

3. Self-tapping screws from B&Q used to screw aluminium strip back on to step:

4. all done:

Good write-up Thumbs Up

But I hope you put some axle stands under the chassis rails while you were under there as the RRS does have a tendency to drop a little when self-levelling. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks for the write up.... my strips have started to come away at the front and back and am pleased to hear it's a common fault with an easy fix. Was worried I'd have to hack it or buy new steps.

Thanks again Smile
