This is always a problem with car accidents, you can virtually kill someone this way and not end up with a jail sentence, it was why (in the Police) we spent a lot of extra time investigating fatal road accidents, to ensure no relationship in personal or business life. The sentences have mow been given the option for the Judge to give longer jail sentences, but rarely used, and this is quite a long sentence as before new rules no jail time would be served. With good behaviour etc could still be out in two years. A car is a lethal weapon in many people's hands, but it isn't treated as such when used like that. John

Other sources have shown full video including impact and it really is unbelievable this guy only got such a lenient sentence and his passenger is blameless

Maximum tariff for dangerous driving is 5 years imprisonment (minus 50% as is usual because the prisons are so full), he would have had maximum 15 years (minus time off for good behaviour) if he had killed the girls. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Looks as if he has already undercut a motorist who has put his headlights on before his non indicated madness turn across the oncoming traffic. LR vehicle of course gave the occupants full protection, but the other drivers vehicle wasn't up to help in saving occupants from serious injury. Even the previous motorist to turn wasn't that far off a driving without due care charge. Depending on what the driver was charged with, there is a maximum sentence if found guilty or pleads guilty, of up to 50% off sentence if pleads guilty before appearance. If the occupants had died he would have ended up with a jail term of 10-12 years before any deductions. John

It's always the same thing about justice vs revenge... We all feel bad with such jail time, but where does the justice end and a revenge begins? What I find reasonable in terms of this sentence is that these 4½ years will leave a grim mark on his life. And then, the earlier he starts paying lifetime pensions to these girls, the better. He owes them his whole life now. Regards etc., Wojtek --- WAS: 2006 RRS Supercharged IS: 2010 RRS TDV8 HSE |

Grim mark on his life, two and a half years and he's walking the streets again, something those little Girls will never do again. He won't pay anything to the girls it will be JLR insurance that pays which in turn will be us. There are absolutely no mitigating circumstance for what he did. That is the problem with this country too many bleeding hearts and no thought for the victims, somebody will be screaming about his human rights next.
