I understand this issue is linked to a static issue for which there was a Technical Service Bulletin. It's something to do with a voltage spike in the amp upon start up. I had this issue and spoke to Land Rover directly and they advised there is an official repair (a software update) which is free at your local dealer. I'd get in touch, check if yours has been updated and if not book it in.

I've been told that before, but I had the number and details of update, I don't think they bother to look properly, as they miraculously then found it. Sad John

Best of luck, otherwise ask the member if he has the details of what LR said it was if possible. John

Hi again,
Speak to Land Rover customer care on 0370 5000 500. Make sure you have the reg no and VIN handy. Explain the fault, say you're aware of an update and ask them to check if they have a record of it being actioned on your vehicle. If not then you should be able to get it sorted for free. Some of the dealers only have limited access to the full LR technical systems...

Another TSB but only for the US was LTB00179NAS2. Basically they state loss of audio with possible frozen touch screen on LR logo.

Problem is MOST related and a loss of communication within the system.

I can't upload the TSB here from the phone, but google the above and you should find it.

Cheers

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

When I took my screen and dvd unit out I saw there is an optical wire which need to be in and possibly clean also all wires in the back could do with removal and blow and insert same goes for wires in dvd unit under passenger seat.

This all works together and if there is a break or removal.of the optical wire it means no sound at all even though the radio will power up and function.

Hope this helps
