Does Offset Matter ?

I am after some 20 inch Rims and the choice here in Australia for OME 20's is pretty good. Most of the 20 inch Rims on Flee Bay are older models with 53 mm Off Set. I notice that My 2016 RRS has 49 mm offset and am wondering if the 4 mm difference will cause an issue? M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

-4mm definitely not, +4mm sometimes can though if the brakes are very close to the wheel spokes.

I have purchased some 20 inch wheels to replace the useless 22 inch wheels which are just for show. I hope the 4 mm does not matter as I did not try the wheels on, they are the Genuine older model wheels . I did check the inside for load rating though. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Well I can tell you a slight difference in off Set does matter. The Front suspension will rub the tyre with 5 mm difference in offset. So be very care full. I have just fitted some OME RRS wheels with 53 off set and there is .5 of a mil between tyre and the suspension up right component on the front. My situation made a little worse by running 285/50 R20 Coopers. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Anyone have the PCD to mind to save me finding it for the RRS? Did find 6mm spacers listed but am concerned if this will impact the amount of thread available for contact with the studs? M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

RRS has PCD of 5x120, center bore of 72.6.

If I were you I would try the wheels on the car to see how they sit before fitting spacers, if the spacers are not hubcentric you could get some wheel wobble etc.

I wouldn't see 5mm being an issue, try and turn your wheels full lock one way and have a look at the back of the wheel and it's clearance to the strut, also make sure there is some clearance to the calipers.

May be worth posting the width of the wheels you currently have and the new ones. Will be a number like 9.5j

Thks for that I found the PCD , Looking at making some steel shims about 2mm , the tire rub is very light and I could probably leave as is but the low speed squeak makes the car sound cheap. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I am looking to purchase some 22" x 10 Riviera wheels for my 2011 plate RRS, the offset is et30, I'm sure these will fit, but worried they will stick out too far!?

Anyone else fitted 22" wheels to theirs with a 30mm offset?

Thanks

John

The way I understand off set your wheel would be moved out about 19 mm with a 30 off set? M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
