There were so few Petrol 4.4V8's sold in the UK/Europe that unfortunately it is the one variant that there is very little info about on the forum. Buyers prefered the better performance of the S/C and they have similar fuel consumption of the NA 4.4 V8. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

"Relevance" as in "noticeability".

I don't know if you are aware that there were a handful (IIRC 8 in total) 4.4S/C's built by LR for development but the engine longevity was so short due to the thin cylinder walls that the bore was sleeved down and capacity reduced to 4.2 litres. Virtually all the development cars ended up in the great LR crusher but I know of one that is still locked up in a shed in Scotland....... You could try DMS and see if they do a remap for it, but remember to tell them that it is a 4.4 Petrol otherwise they will think you have the 4.4SDv8............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

More or less this: What I like about the Disco3 is that is whisper silent compared to my SC (which has exactly this mod done). However, what I like about the SC (apart from the 100 HP improvement over the Disco) is that is loud as a thunder when I floor it. Loud as thunder when you floor it, Mmmmmm I like haha. Just watched the video, so could I just delete/cut out the turtle shaped muffler or would I also have to remove the rear silencers/mufflers? |

The usual procedure on a RRS is to remove #7 on the exhaust system.

Removing a muffler does not affect emmisions tests, so you're safe with that.

So are both 7 & 8 classed as mufflers? Im assuming having both removed would be too loud? How did you do yours, did you just cut it out and have a straight pipe (2 straight pipes) welded in? have you got a video of how yours sounds? |

Yes, exactly. Two straight 2.25" pipes instead of the muffler (one is called "resonator". can't remember which one).
