No, I do a lot of motorway driving and there's no drone, the sound doesn't annoy me at all. Actually I can barely hear the exhaust @ 2500 rpm/6th gear, makes great show on toll booths, though Smile
Yes, they are stainless pipes. Regards etc.,

Never been outside my car when it was driving away, but yes, this is quite close. Smile
It's a 5.0 though, they have more bass in the soundtrack. Regards etc.,

I have a disco 3 4.4 v8 that has been remapped by Alive Tuning.

You aren't going to get big numbers out of it, but the remap is noticeable, I get more mpg, runs quieter, and it revs a lot more freely across the rpm range.

Is that petrol or diesel? How much more mpg did you get after remap?

Hmm interesting! Is number 8 stupid loud then, I know it will sound different to a v8 but have you got a video of how yours sounds with 8 removed?

Before

After

Just trundling down the street at 1500rpm, it turns lots of heads
My customers know it's me pulling up outside before knocking on the door
The parents live around quarter of a mile away from me. They can hear me from their back door when I leave the house, and they can tell when I drive past their house too

It sounds lovely, but it's rather loud

Thanks for the vids Disco_mikey!
When you had #8 removed, was it replaced with straight pipes or did the pipes have to have bends in it?

Thanks

Mmarques,

I'd remove 7, not 8. 8 is what they called the resonator. If you listen to the first YouTube video posted you can hear the drone. I had a straight through system (no 7 or Cool and whilst I loved the noise, especially the snap, crackle, pop on overrun the drone at 1500-2000 rpm was a killer and I reverted to a stock exhaust.

I may be tempted to remove 7 in the future though to get some base rumble back.... Whistle

Cheers

In the first video they removed the resonator and the two rear/tail mufflers/silencers would having the rear silencers cause the drone or is it definitely the resonator?
Have you got any videos of when you had your exhaust done?

Has anyone thought of getting some sort of exhaust valve/flap which you can adjust to be able to change the loudness of the exhaust note?

I've been and spoken to a mate of mine and I'm currently waiting for him to give me a time/date, but we're gonna remove the resonator (No:8 ) and see how that sounds.

TheWojtek has removed No:7 and I fancy a little more bark (I appreciate that you don't get the real impact from a video), I'll get a video of it up when it's done, both before and after, I may be able to snaffle a gopro from work to get some rear bumper shots.
