2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Restoring plastic trim

Hi all,

Spent the day giving my TDV8 Java Black, a lovely clean today.

What products would you suggest for the plastic trim between the back windows and boot? I used Autosmart bumper treatment today and it wasn't very good.

Pricey but well worth it!

I bought some of this:

Works well, I was going to use it on the pillar plastics but it leaves brush marks (it's basically black paint) so cleaned it off. I applied mine 2 months ago and I'm still impressed with the results.

Yup the C4 stuff, use sparingly though. A little goes a long way!

the same stuff as the Gtechniq but in a cheaper box is 'WipeNew'.

Always used the Gt stuff but found the wipenew when I was in America last year. Its exactly the same, smells the same and lasts forever. Plus its £10 on eBay!

I have heard some reveiws of the Forever product, but I think it all depends on application.

I think I'll be trying the WipeNew.

Think I will try wipenew next time I need to top up, certainly much cheaper than C4.

2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Had good results from the forever black. Tried various other types of black restorers they only seen to last weeks.

below is a few weeks after the last product I tried, you can see its quite patchy and going grey.

then I tried the forever black, pic after first coat.

I left a section unpainted so you can see the difference, several weeks in and still looking good. Tip is get the surface clean, they supply a bottle of cleaner but I also scrubbed it washed it scubbed it

. First attempt was streaky, I put it down to surface contaminates from the various other products I have tried. pic above is only 1 coat, I waited 24 hours and applied a second coat

The product comes with a foam brush to apply, seems to go a long way, applies like painting in ink.

Also did the washer jets on the bumper, really please with result.

I have the same issue with the trim at the bottom of the front wind screen. Curious and want to try the peanut butter trick. To be honest I've heard great things about it but I'm not sure if it's effective enough for the trim mentioned above. Would anyone have some before and after pics of this method on the Front Windshield trim?

I have tried a lot of different products, and read a lot on peanut butter. Its just oil it cannot restore and will wash off very quickly. There are vids on utube with peanut butter experiments, save your time.
