Have you had it serviced recently or changed the battery? Strange that it defaulted to Germany as it is usually Belgium they revert to! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi,
No not been serviced. Also battery etc not changed.

My mistake it was Belgium not Germany ( as it was 5:30 this morning so I wasn't awake ) !!!

Just been out in it again and each time I start the car it defaults to Belgium and all previous destinations have been lost. only my home address is still stored ?

Not 100% that these systems have a small battery on them to maintain information like that, but I would think that there is and it's that which is causing your issue.

Has the vehicle been sat for a long time or only been used for short trips ? This could cause the battery to run low.

I worked at Denso a few years ago so I have asked a few people I know to speak with the Sat Nav team to find out what the issue might be.

The car hasn't been sat for any amount of time (its used every day) and its not been recently serviced. I just got in it one day and the system was like this !! each time its defaulted to Belgium and its got no previous destinations stored.

Its as if the system does indeed loose power when there is no ignition feed and it resets itself ??? Sad

If you're only making short runs with the car that will deplete the battery.

Please describe short runs ?

Also do you mean vehicle battery or battery inside sat nav module ( if there is one )

my shortest commute to work is 15miles which is not short and enough to charge battery after a start. I normally drive also between locations which is approx. 25miles.

15 miles isn't a short run, I was meaning more like a couple of miles or so.

I'm no expert but I would be looking for a loose wire. The head unit and touch display aren't difficult to remove, I would try re-seating (disconnect - spray with contact cleaner - back together) the connectors in those first.

I wouldn't have thought it was the unit under the passenger seat as that's just a disk drive.

Had a play last night. Firstly I tried to remove SAT NAV disc but it would not eject !!!! then the screen froze !!!!

I carried out a battery "hard reset" which got the system working again and I was then able to eject the disc !!!! I changed the location to the UK, put in some destinations and all data was stored correctly. I turned car off, and left it for a few hours and when I checked it again following this, it was all still working, location was still set to UK and previous destinations were all still stored ( so I thought the reset had fixed things )

When I went to the car this morning the system had again defaulted to Belgium and there were no previous destinations. I was also unable to eject disc again Censored

Having a look at this link:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...ration.pdf

It looks as though the 'brain' is in the disk drive unit. So it would look as though I gave bad advice when I suggested checking connections in the head unit.

While I got the component wrong the advice is still the same, had a quick look on ebay and they're going for around £200.

Just wanted to provide an update. Ive heard from my contact at Denso and there is no battery back up within the disc drive unit. They have said I will need a new unit Censored

So if anyone is breaking a RRS or has a working disc drive unit ( Denso part number=462100-8672, or Landrover part number=YIB500120 ) please let me know cash waiting !!!!
