I have just bought 4 20ltr jerry cans to store some diesel/petrol. Is there a time limit that I should use fuel by? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Certainly in the days when I had a petrol driven lawn mower sometimes the fuel would sit for 6-7 months over the winter and it still worked after that.

Petrol can go 'stale' but this really only applies to smaller amounts of fuel - like a tank on a lawnmower. If you jerry can is going to be full, then this wont be an issue. However, I would try to use & replace it within a year just in case. Matt

There is an additive that you can put into the petrol to stop it going stale.

I don't think it has a shelf life as such, just storing so much has safety issues, how come you want to store it all? |

I don't expect you would have stored Shell Optimax, as this does only have a shelf life of a couple of weeks before all the good a dditives evaporate off.
