VA,Don't store the petrol, not because of the shelf life but because you may be invalidating your domestic insurance by keeping so much in an outhouse or garage. Perhaps one of the resident experts could advise 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Certainly in the days when I had a petrol driven lawn mower sometimes the fuel would sit for 6-7 months over the winter and it still worked after that.
I don't think that there is a shelf life for diesel, but I would shake the container well after it has sat as any water that is in it when you fill the can will seperate out over time and the diesel will float ontop of the water. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Petrol can go 'stale' but this really only applies to smaller amounts of fuel - like a tank on a lawnmower. If you jerry can is going to be full, then this wont be an issue. However, I would try to use & replace it within a year just in case. Matt

RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

There is an additive that you can put into the petrol to stop it going stale.
You can purchase it from any shop that fix's lawnmowers, it takes out the
moisture from the tank.
I use it when I store my vintage scooters over the winter.It works !!

I don't think it has a shelf life as such, just storing so much has safety issues, how come you want to store it all?

I don't expect you would have stored Shell Optimax, as this does only have a shelf life of a couple of weeks before all the good a dditives evaporate off.

As for the rest as long as it is air tight you will be fine, otherwise the petrol will evaporate.
