Settle an argument D or N at lights?

My wife always pops it into N at lights. I leave in D. What's best? Question Thumbs Up 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory

I misread your original thread - thought it said NIGHTS not LIGHTS - apologies Embarassed Embarassed

Owners manual states Wink

Do not allow the vehicle to remain
stationary for a sustained period, with a
gear selected and the engine running.
Always select P or N if the engine is to
idle for a prolonged period.

Park (P) should be engaged and the
parking brake applied when the
vehicle is stationary.
Always select P and switch off the

I leave it in Drive with the handbrake applied unless I'm going to be sat for an extended period then I put it in Neutral. If it's going to be absolutely ages, I put it in Park & switch the engine off. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Very Happy did you know you can put the handbrake on but it will disengage automatically when depressing the accelerator to pull away Very Happy 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Normally D, but if it's likely to take a while I select N and apply park brake. I never use park brake with D. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
