Oil leak leading to new turbo??

Kind of want a 2nd opinion really. Found a big puddle of oil on my drive yesterday morning. When the mrs came home she said the coolant light had came on whilst driving? I checked the coolant and its fine, checked the oil from the engine and thats fine too! Took it for a run and everything seemed fine but still had an oil leak.. Thick oil may i add not gearbox. Took it to the garage this morning and he said the turbos gone.. And there was half a pint of oil in the intercooler.. Anybody else had this? And can help me as to not get ripped off and have to buy a new turbo. Im driving a RRS 2.7 hse, 90k miles..

Have you noticed any drop in power or any black or white smoke from the exhaust at all.

No mate no loss in power or smoke.. However, there was a loose jubilee clip on one of the pipes from the turbo, where he said it was leaking oil and since then it hasnt leaked. I checked the oil friday morning and it was fine. Checked it this morning and its down to the last ball!! Im losing oil but hope its not in the turbo.
