Any tips on removing the engine fan ?

Damm thing is on there tight !

Put the wrench on the nut (yes left hand thread) - and use a pry bar (or special fan tool) to stop the pulley spinning - sharp blow with a rubber mallet to the wrench on the nut normally works best. I just did it on my bmw and there are various you tube videos out there showing you how to do this ...

Al is right, you need a fan clutch hold-on wrench, and a correct size wrench. I needed a 1 1/2" wrench to remove the fan nut to change the water pump on my Dodge last week. I tried varies tools from pipe wrench to regular adjustment wrench did not work. Many trips to the store, until I found a large adjustable wrench. The nut was off in 2 minutes. I also suggest to ask a helper to hold to one wrench, while you swing a hammer on the the other wrench.
