2016 Kielder 4x4 Safari dates

Been in touch with Hairy Dan over on the Disco Forum who is involved with this and he is happy for me to share this over here for you guys, hopefully it will be of interest to some and from what I have seen looks to be a great day out and all for a very worthy cause and excellent price. Thumbs Up

I'm going to book one of these up and make a weekend of it as its along way from home for me and SWMBO.

The Kielder trip has been in my sights for a couple of years. Maybe this year will be the one. It's definitely an a double overnighter (although one could do it in a day it would be very tiring). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Guys, I have been on the website, but can't really see if you use your own vehicle or one that is driven by a guide?

If it your own vehicle are there different routes for those fitted with road tyres and for vehicles fitted out for cross country?

Jim

Hi Jim,

Yes you use your own vehicle. No special tyres are needed, you would be amazed where a RRS and Disco can go on standard road rubber Thumbs Up

Guys,

If you want offroading experience WITHOUT using your own car, try one of the LR Experience centres. Great value for money and centres throughout the country!

My profile picture is just such an experience in Dunkeld, Scotland last month.

I took my RRS1 TDv8 on one of the very early Keilder runs and will second what has been said by Buckster above. I wasn't that concerned about taking my RRS on the drives and AliCatt also joined us in his RRS for the day en route from Beligium to Wick, fresh off the overnight ferry into Newcastle. The guys running the event were way more concerned that I might damage my RRS following the D3's around than I was. I only dodged out of one section after I became the tailend charlie and wasn't happy at the way that the track had been totally chewed up by the D3's on MTR's that had got stuck, I was running on Ice and Snow tyres having left my MTR's at home due to the longish motorway trek to Keilder from home. I didn't get stuck once unlike some of the D3's Mr. Green Mr. Green These are great runs and extremely well marshalled and monitored. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the conformation of a very well marshalled Safari Tim.

I think it looks like a great day out using your own vehicle and if you would like to sort a date for this RRSTDV8 we can sort some thing out on the Exmoor trek next month. Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Been on a couple of these events in the past though both times in the 90, have been thinking of doing another one. Don't foregot the free breakfast for the driver as well.. Could this be the makings of a RRS event ??
You get all makes on these runs, the last time there was a group of pajeros, at the first hill half of them stopped and popped there bonnets, like man made fog it was all the steam from there overheating engines.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
