Options For Sump Guards

A move to the country is being contemplated & by that I mean un-surfaced roads, water erosion, fords, mud etc and that's just to get to the house...

Thinking might be a good idea to put a sump guard on, so other than LR, which is bound to be expensive, what other options available please?

Anything else I should consider other than decent tyres?

The existing one (fitted by LR) isn't made of plastic or cheap tin, it's reasonably substantial. I reckon it's good for a lot of basic lanes etc.
Obviously if you are going full-on rock crawling, then upgrade it, but have a look at it first Thumbs Up

(Fords can be a bit of an unknown ..)

Have a look at this over on the Disco Forum

Remember, a RRS1 has the same chassis, engine and running gear as a Disco.....

I have a Mantec sump guard on mine, very well made too and you also keep the standard Land Rover sump plate in place underneath it for added protection Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Except the RRS is a bit shorter in the middle, so the chassis are different Thumbs Up

And the tubes linked to are not rock sliders, they are for styling purposes only. And won't fit an RRS due to the above

I have the LR Stainless steel front and rear accessory bash plates on my L494 HSE Dynamic. They are substantial BUT it appears that you have to remove them to get at the recovery eye mounting point which isn't really a great feature.................when you have got stuck in knee deep mud and have to remove the bash plate completely to screw in the recovery eye. But they do look nice when you drive around town in your rufty tufty off road vehicle Rolling with laughter 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Had a gen L/R guard on my D3 did the job and looked great, but was a pain when it came to oil and filter change as it uses some of the same mounting points as the engine guard. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

may be an expensive option from a freight perspective , but Green Oval Experience.. who loiters here have
full underbody protection systems for the 1st gen RRS including My10 facelifts .. Engine, transmission and
compressor plates, sliders and step out bars..

My Sport is a pretty extreme variant compared to most School run specials.. but has the all round ptotection fitted to it
in order to meet some of the demands of Australia's off road environment

and no complaints or extra cost from the LR dealership at servicing time Smile
