To be honest there are some worthwhile buys on e bay when it comes to RRS and Full Fats for around the 6k mark. Most have had recent replacement gearboxes, suspension compressors or other age related work done to them, so if you picked one up and ran around in it for a couple of years you could still sell it for a couple of grand, even if it were for spares.

I'm just getting sensible as I get older, when I see a nice Sport for 40-45k I just can't help thinking. I could get a half decent flat at auction for that money. The flat would bring me 600 a month rent and increase in value. The car will lose value and cost me money lol.

Yes but not old enough to have seen some of your friends and family do just that. Unfortunately they have either died or ended up with dementia and what good is money then. Live for today with just an eye on tomorrow you have to enjoy life. |

Meh - my mantra is borrow as much (not credit cards etc, but Mortgage and Car Finance) as cheaply as possible whilst the rates are low, pay off as much as quickly as possible, then when rates rise you are in a much better position.

See, for me my car is an extension of my personality. If that were the same for you, I would be assuming that you were a skinny, 55yr old salesmanager in a grey suit, or even an accountant....but I doubt you are. Buying a car is an emotional decision, or IMHO it should be. Ignore logic when buying a car or a house, go with your heart....having said that....there are a few nice "5's" out there, its just a very standard looking car (exception being the M5 of course, but even that is looking dated against the M2/3/4). Im short, neither the RRS1 nor the RRS2 is a car to be bought with logic or money saving in mind, you've dithered so much that I cannot see you ever buying one, infact, why not go and buy an X5M, that will still depreciate but I am sure the dealer will offer a better trade in for your 5. 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography |

You're right I'm not a skinny 55 year old sales manager. I'm early 40's and got quite lucky buying into a Franchise 20 years ago for 28'000. The same franchise today is 380'000 to start up all in,(An they do want franchisees) thankgod everyone went gym/health/fitness mad eh |

Well not quite everyone I would rather have my eyes poked out with red hot needles. Than go to a gym!! I keep pretty fit working in the garden and walking to the pub then staggering back home. I remember test driving a RS 500 with a friend and the pads were smoking when we finished you need to get it out and use it. Just seen a photo of a detailing on a RS 500 does look nice. How about a photo of yours would be nice.

Off to Tonbridge tomorrow from my council estate to swap my old square RRS1 for another old square RRS1 - probably loose thousands as I drive off the dealerships forecourt but hey who gives a my money - my choice. This will be my third in 6 years each one as been awesome - I will be grinning on the way down & grinning on the way back
