As above, though heights can be adjusted (together, but not individually) with an appropriate diagnostic tool. The IID, for instance, allows you to save 3 preset heights. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

You're obviously very new to RRS, so no offence but this does put you at risk of being very impressed with these cars and potentially buying a dog. Keep your head screwed on! Even a dog of a car is going to feel like a rolls Royce to you.

All this advice and information from someone who has never actually owned one of these vehicles. I'm very impressed. Bow down

Cheers

Just to add, there is actually "Extended" and "Super Extended" available above Off-Road height, but they're non-user-selectable (the car has to sense on obstruction). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Just trying to help the guy, buy the right RRS with the right history and the right warranty and although we all know it will have issues the pain will be live withable (word?)

Buy the wrong RRS with suspect history and no warranty and well...... Everyone here knows the potential for a £2000+ repair in the first year is very possible.

A warranty isn't entirely essential - put money aside instead, and in the long run, the probability is that it would save you money. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I can see your point of view, however if you don't already have a piggy bank pot of gold and are buying an 8 year old car, then sorry, but I feel a warranty is the prefered option, unless you can knock a couple of grand off the asking price to cover the likes of EGR valves etc etc.. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Oh, I'm not saying a warranty doesn't ease cashflow, but as the facts go, that's how things stand. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Sorry this is the 2.7 to v6 version.

OK I'll get them to show me the service sheets to see if this has been done.

If my uncle does this job does the £1500 come down would you say?

Labour Is the expense really over the parts isn't it?

With a little negotiating my local main dealer is doing the belts, idlers and water pump for just over £700 tomorrow
its on a 3.0L so don't know how much difference that will make.

Worth calling them and asking or there best price.

So.... Have you viewed it? Was it ok?

If you buy it stick around on here and get advice that could save you a lot of money. I wouldn't recommend my approach of joining up then telling them their cars are worthless now. I mean I'm sure I would still get advice, but wether or not it's saves me money maybe questionable Rolling with laughter

I agree, put money aside....The shop and dealer will take all your money on simple job such as brake/rotor replacement and schedule maintenance. Can you do the work yourself.

Great cars, however you MUST buy a car with warranty, plus a full service history, Main dealer preferable.

I would suggest that a book full of stamps from a known good indie would be a better bet. Dealers charge silly hourly rates and seem to view a good job as something that happens by accident. At the much lower indie charging rates, the previous owner is more likely to have chosen/been able to afford to have done extra jobs on top of the normal service.

What you really want is a big pile of receipts itemising work done; sadly, if you buy from a dealer (or most other garages) these are removed and all you see is the service book with stamps. My service record is quite comprehensive and shows suspension bushes done between services, for example, because that's when they needed doing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hello guys!

I test drove the car, i loved driving the Range Rover Sport, wow what a great looking 4x4. This was a stunning looking car with gorgeous wheels however... i kept my head on my shoulders, used all your advice and looked up and down the car all around listened to everything/checked what i physically could.

I am not going to buy this one. Its my first range rover sport ive driven. It was tidy, it has a few light scratches dotted about the car (black in colour) quite a lot of swirl marks and my OCD was going a bit crazy. The interior was immaculate besides the drivers seat that had a small hole in the side of the seat half a five pence in size.

The air suspension worked well, low setting, mid setting and max setting - it didnt take long to reach high setting, around 6 seconds i think...

The car drove smoothly and was quiet, didnt hear any knocking really..... an absoloute tiny bit over really bumpy back roads but nothing majore tbh.

Car started first time, no smoking turbo/no whining turbo etc.

I Loved it but i think the leather seat, the marks on the outside of the car and plus one thing (i think the biggest thing that did it for me) the 7 year cambelt hadnt been done. It did have a service in January and had the brakes changed/oil/oil filter etc but nothing about cambelt....

So as much as i enjoyed it i wont buy THIS ONE but im now 100% sure i want one. Loved driving it, felt sporty but solid and was extremely smooth.

I am going to keep looking. (heck ive waited for 4 years so not gonna rush it)

Thanks for all your help guys - please let me know if you guys are selling PM me if you are.

Regards
Mike Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

Hi Mike, I found myself in the same situation over 6 months ago.
I have owned several 4x4's over the years and I have always since the sport was launched promised myself that I would one day own one.
I started my search in August last year and after having test drove several tdv6 versions I decided to test a tdv8.

The difference in the performance of the tdv8 compared to the tdv6 is something to be experienced.
Even though the tdv6 is a very capable vehicle with a smooth ride, the tdv8 is totally on another level.

Ok there may be a slight drop in mpg but boy is it worth it.!!

Try to test drive one and I think you will be very impressed.

There are a few very nice ones out there around your budget at the moment.

Regards, Phil.
