Flat battery

Hi guys,
I haven't used my RRS SC MY10 for few months and obviously the battery has died. Now, I got Ring Automatic WorkshopCharge 20 and I am hoping to recharge the battery, but the instructions are awful and very misleading.

Would anyone be so kind and talk to me through how to recharge the bloody thing? The charger instructions say I have two options:
1. Engine Start
2. Battery Charge

What exactly is the difference? If the battery is flat, I can use the engine start option, but wouldn't I still need to recharge the battery?

If I am to recharge the battery, then the charger instructions say that (+) cable goes onto the battery, but the (-) cable clips to the chassis. The LR handbook says that the battery needs to be removed from the vehicle before charging. If this is the case, then there is no chassis to connect the (-) cable to...

LR handbook instructions describe two options: Charging the battery and/or Boosting from another vehicle? What is the difference?

If I remove the battery will the car need any kind of reset?

Thank you for your help guys Vadim A.

I would remove the positive terminal and charge it on the car.
You can use a booster to start the car but it won’t charge the battery until you drive it or at least keep the car running for some time.
Leave the battery in the car and charge it there + to red and black to – or chassis.

I think the 2 options stated refer to using the unit as 1) a boost starter, for a battery struggling to start the car or 2) as a conventional battery charger, to charge the battery over a period of time.
If the battery is really discharged I would leave it on charge for a full day to give it a chance to build up,, boosting it to get it started and then relying on the alternator to fully charge it will not work. I have recently bought a ctek smart charger to keep my battery topped up as It was begining to suffer because of short runs. 2010 RRS, TDV8

As the guys have said above, you have got a battery charger with 'boost start' function. To charge the battery, disconnect the leads from the battery and connect the red lead to the positive (+) terminal (greater in diameter than the negative terminal), and the black lead to the negative (-) battery terminal. Plug in the charger and set it to charge on a low trickle charge for 24 hours.
The boost function is used if the vehicle has battery power but not enough to spin the engine over and fire it up. In this instance, the battery is left connected and the charger/booster leads applied to the car battery as above. The booster is plugged in and the switch set to the 'start' or 'boost' position. Immediately start the vehicle and as soon as it has fired up, switch the charger/booster off and disconnect.
Hope that clears it up a bit.

Leave the battery connected else I think you ought to have the Battery Monitoring System reset, and thus be sure also to put the negative on a ground point not the terminal. If you are using a reconditioning mode then the battery should be taken out of the car but otherwise it can stay as it is. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thank you guys,
I just went to LR Garage to make sure I am doing the right thing. I spoke to a mechanic and he said just to make sure I am using the right charger, because there are two types of batteries. He said simply connect + to + and - to - and thats it. Leave it for at least 5-6 hours on slow charging mode. Vadim A.

Good afternoon fellas,
I'm charging my battery today, but something tells me I will need to get a new battery. Can anyone recommend a good quality LR approved battery for 2010 5.0L S/C model please? Vadim A.

Guys

C-TEK chargers are amazing they also do them for AGM batteries

Works wonders... BUT theres nothing better than a NEW battery where needed

Charger still a good £50 investment if you own a car..
