2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Offroad sport, not Sport offroad!

Just home from a wonderful weekend of offroading in the Argyll Forest Park on the West Coast of Scotland, on the Clyde Estuary, with 12 other Landies (Defenders, 90's 110's S1 Discoveries and some Hybrids) and a couple of Mitsubishi Pajeros. The weather was just brilliant - heavy showers with sunshine between and the Scottish scenary was at it's Autumnal best.
DON'T Try this with your lovely new RRS - you need to wait until it is at least a year old and a few scratches from fir trees, rocks and brambles don't matter!

And in case you are wondering how I travelled, it was NOT in my Sport! I went in my trusty Defender 90 County TDi300 with no special offroad adaptations other than steering rod protection, reinforced towing points,sump/diff guards and a raised air intake with extended axle breathers (the last two are essential for boggy ground when the car can end up in water over the 500mm wading depth very easily.

My Defender before I learned the cost of deep wading without raised intake and axle breathers (about £2000 after this escapade!)

Come and join us guys. I have arranged several events now and the only damage was a burst tyre so far, due to a little excess speed.

One of the guys negotiating a really tough spot.

By the way, we stick cling film on the sides to protect the paint, works well, mine has not a scratch and it is black.

Contact me if you are interested, we have a great group of guys now from the site.

BN, you are a braver man than me! I had a TD6 RaRo before the Sport and I took that off into the forests when it was 3 weeks old, and while I didn't sustain any body damage I spent the whole of the summer polishing out scratches inflicted by brambles and gorse. The Sport has been off roaded gently where there were no thorny bushes and all I sustained was a scuffed alloy....... I have my Defender as my offroad toy, it is 10 years old and for the last 4 years has only been onroad to get to the offroad events! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yep, sounds and looks like you had a great time, Tim! And how unusual to see blue sky over in the west of Scotland! As usual though, some fantastic scenery! Thanks for the photos! Cool

Tim, lived in 110's, 90's and 130's all my life wanted a little comfort and cosseting, so that was the reason for the D3. If it gets damaged, so what I have enjoyed the pleasure of it. The RRS is a little wider and would certainly limit where we went. I am working on some new routes that are more picturesque and no damage if any of you guys are interested. By the way this is mine after Wales

and then after an quick wash and brush up

The tyres did help a bit, but most guys were on road tyres, I was on Cooper STT's with 80/20. That is 80% off road, you may be able to see the aggressive tread.

Is anyone interested in a trip to Croatia with me and a few D3 guys in 2006. It is all proffessionally escorted and good fun.
