i'm not an expert on RRS keys but i know with my Jag the remote buttons were programmed separately to the ignition chip, so basically if you have damaged the key it could in theory operate the remote buttons but not the ignition. 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

It sounds like you have damaged the transponder chip on the circuit board. It's black long and square and is soldered onto the board at the thinner end nearest the blade. Any decent locksmith (like me!!) will be able to test the key for you and see if the chip is reading. The remote will still work as this is a separate part but coded at the same time 16 model year yulong white autobiography

Forget timpsons mate different job on a Scooby. I could probably be able to clone your working key and put a new chip in the damaged one but I'm based in Manchester and I would need the car at my shop. 16 model year yulong white autobiography
