United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
Quick 4 month review.....with a few minor issues!

Bought our 61 plate RRS SDV6 back in late October last year. It was from a Land Rover dealer and came with two years servicing and LR warranty, it now has just a smidge over 41k miles on it, so we have only done 1500 miles or so (or at least me wife has).

We love it, it has loads of presence on the road and it does everything we wanted - including transporting our 3 dogs in style! No idea about economy, we didn't buy it for that, and it is no worse than the previous X5 35d. I love the interior and the commanding driving position.

Anyway, there are a few niggles, nothing that has caused me to take the car to the dealer yet, but they do slightly take the edge off the otherwise excellent experience. I haven't done much searching, but I susepct that this issues are not unique to my RRS.

- when someone has been sat in the front passenger seat and then gets out. The seatbelt warning sound (bong......bong ....bong...) goes off for a while with nothing on the seat. Tres annoying.

- when reversing the mirrors automatically dip, more often than not, when you drive forward they don't return to the normal position.

- the central locking only seems to open the drivers door, you have to push the unlock button in the door to open the remaining doors.

- the car doesn't seem to sit level, it maybe down slightly on one side in normal suspension mode. It might be just my eyesight, and if it is slightly down, it isn't by much. I guess this might just be the air suspension and I need to get out and do some measuring with a tape to make my assessment slightly more scientific.

Anyone with any comments or thought, gratefully received.

I'm no expert, but here is my 2c (2p for those of you in the UK) worth...

1. Sounds like the seat sensor is sticky. Easier and cheaper to turn the bong off. A search of these forums will find threads on this (I did it on ours so can't be too complex)

2. That is normal RRS behaviour. It's a fault, but pretty much par for the course. Ours sometimes dip and sometimes dont. Sometimes the drivers does without the passenger, sometimes the other way around, sometimes both and sometimes none...

3. That is a feature that can be changed. Again a search will net (pun intended) you results.

4. Not uncommon by the sounds of things for the suspension to be uneven or sag on one corner/side over time when parked. Do a search but if it's only one side I'd suggest looking at the air lines. Alternatively there may be a calibration issue with the suspension height sensors, but I'm just guessing at that. Most likely an air leak.

Anyway, I'm sure someone who knows what they are talking about will be along shortly...

Cheers,
Steve. Every home should have one!

Here are a few suggestions to try and help with your issues...

You really need to get your dealer to fix this problem first, but an option to disable it in the mean time... With ignition on, sit in the drivers seat, plug then unplug the seatbelt 9 times in succession. This should disable the bong. If it doesn't diable the bong for the passanger seat, then carry out the same process in that seat. Thumbs Up

Do you use different key fobs? One key fob may be programmed to dip the mirrors, and the other key fob not. This can be turned off in the menu on the dash. Wink

Again, this can be changed in the menu on the dash, I think it comes under access mode. Thumbs Up

There is a software update to cure this issue, get in touch with your dealer. Thumbs Up

Hope this helps.

That's a real help, thank you. Thumbs Up

Looks like I might disable the passenger warning in the way you suggest Ady. We use both keys so that might explain the mirrors, I will get out to the car when I can and play with the menu settings with both keys.

I think a trip to the dealer is in order for them to have a look at the suspension issues though.

Other than that, this is a great car Range Rover - 4.4SDV8 Autobiography - Corris and Black

Peter?
I realise it's been a year since you had the uneven suspension issue. Did you go back to the dealer to have the update done for this? My rrs has the same issue - about an inch drop to the OS. Wondered if this is going to fix mine. It's is also a 61 plate.
Hope you got your other issues fixed too.
Cheers
