Would you trust the AA or Greenflag with your expensive RRS i went for the warranty with assist BUT in all honesty i didn't really look for alternatives

Despite being provided by the AA, LR Assist sends LR technicians when available or if you can wait. When you can't drive your own car, you get a like for like replacement through LR Assist. Also bear in mind that LR Assist is Europe wide. You should look at prices of comparable cover from AA or RAC etc. and decide based on that if any of the above matters to you. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I had the LR extended warranty, never had any cause to use it but in my opinion worth every penny for the total peace of mind. |

I had the Extended with Assist. On the two occasions I used Assist it was excellent. When turbos failed they took my word for it and sent a flat bed to take me home; none of the dreaded waiting for a tech to come out and then a further wait for the flat bed. The Assist technician came to my house the next morning and agreed my diagnosis, he then had the RRS taken to the dealership and arranged for a replacement. An Evoque for 9 days wasn't a bad replacement in my view - Enterprise provide the cars so getting a Sport was always going to be difficult. After two days the warranty pays for the replacement car and they were happy for me to continue with the Evoque.

For single vehicle cover the AA costs appear to range from £35 for Basic Roadside, £80 including Recovery, £110 including Home Start, through to £142 to include Onward Travel, with Cashback rates of £10, £33, & £55 available from TopCashback. The AA costs do not include European Cover so I guess if you need full blown cover (including Europe) the LR Assist option is reasonably competitive, but I guess if you only want basic roadside assistance there are cheaper options. So I've probably (at least partly) answered my own question.... Thanks for other comments. |

I went through exactly the same debate in 2013 when my 2010 RRS had got to the end of its 3 Year Warranty period. The decision then to go for a new Black Edition was made easier by the deals available on the 'old' RRS model. It's not so simple now as , to me at least, the cost to change to a new RRS is prohibitive (sadly!) |

If I was to change it wouldn't be for a new RRS for similar reasons . The only LR I would consider is the "run out" Disco model, but in all likelihood I would change for another marque so that I didn't have to experience the dreadful after sales service from the not so local useless LR dealer ever again |
