battery or alternator fault/replacment

Hey looking some advice here for my partners 2008 tdv8, its playing up again!! Big Cry
He recently replaced the brake light switch as he was getting a warning this seems to have sorted that issue but then yesterday whilst we were at the other end of the country, not long after she was started the battery warning light came on along with an amber warning light (which I have uploaded in picture.)
The engine never stopped once voluntarily and started fine when switched off and on again but the electrics -lights radio sat nav all cut out numerous times through out the 90 min journey - managed to get her home by the skin of our teeth and he has just checked the battery voltage today and it's reading 12..
Would you reckon it's just a new battery needed or an alternator replacement?

Just realised that the pic didn't upload.. uploaded this time round

Update*** OK so after removing the battery and having it tested twice by two different people, they have both said the battery is fine and reading normal so figuring it's the alternator.. does any one have any idea of a price for an indy to replace this?
Got a price from a dealer and my eyes are still watering as a result... Censored

OEM alternator, inc fitting in a TDV8 is around £450
Allow £100 for a decent battery too

Thanks for the reply Mikey, bit blonde here and trying to help him any which way I can for fear of either of us losing our sanity. Can I ask is OEM the brand of alternator that it would take?

OEM means Original Equipment manufacture.

i.e a genuine Range Rover dealer part.

I'm learning about RR but a battery light can also mean overcharging, which isn't good, ANd if you drive it you could keep the revs as low as possible.

Denso is OEM, and exactly the same part you would receive in a Land Rover box, at a much lower price Thumbs Up
