United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Dynamic Mode

Firstly Happy New Year to all RRS Owners and wish you all a trouble free motoring year. Best wishes to the north Hants and south Surrey members .

We have staying with us over the Bew Year some friends who are on their 3rd RRS now a 2012 SDV6 model and I was telling them how good Dynamic mode was which they had never used. I took them out in mine in Dynamic mode on a local French road with a number of hairpin bends and put her through her paces. They were blown away by the road holding particularly as he also has a Aston Martin DB9 . I wonder how many members do not know how good Dynamic mode really is.

As an aside these friends are seriously wealthy with several vehicles and love RRS s but refuse to pay the huge uplift to a new model which they think is a laugh. However good a car I believe LR are milking the marque. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard
Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small
Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged.

May be completely wrong here but isn't DSC on all the time unless you manually disengage it with the switch?. As I say just goes to show how much notice I take.

Cheers

Happy New Year to all! Col, I reckon Nigel means the Dynamic mode on the wheel by the handbrake. I have it on my 60 plate but it wasn't on my 07 plate.

Nigel, I've used it, but cant really notice much difference, but I don't tend to cane it! What exactly is the difference? Taughter suspension? Different gearchanging (as in Sport mode)? Question

Dynamic mode is the button you press along with the sports gearbox and make use of the flappy paddles when you want the RRS to become a Sport, and have an enthusiastic run on your favourite road. Very Happy IIRC it only can in around 2010/2011 on the HSE + models. It stiffens everything up, suspension steering etc and reduces body roll. If you say you can't tell the difference, try parking with it switched on. You will notice how much stiffer the steering is then. Laughing

**Happy New Year To You All**

Absolutely this is one of the main differences between the RRS and say ML, X5 or any other 4x4. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard

Dynamic Mode doesn't just pin the car down harder on the air springs it also "weights up" the electronic power steering on RRS2 and changes the throtle and toque vectoring maps IIRC. You don't have to be in Sport mode to feel the difference either, that just adds even more responsiveness to everything as well as the "manual" gear shifts. The change between "normal" and Dynamic in the RRS is much more marked than it is in the Evoque Dynamic, I suspect that having the air springs is the reason, the Magneride in the Evoque works well but not as markedly as in the RRS2. I complained to LR that the Dynamic mode in my 1st Evoque got very confused when driving on rippled concrete motorway surfaces and made the ride really unpleasant............... the response was "why are you using it on motorways? It is meant for twisty roads!" Embarassed Embarassed Should have RTFM! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yep i loved the Dynamic mode on my previous 2012 RRS. For a 2.7 ton car, it really does handle well. Shocked

I wish my L405 had a similar setting, has noticeably more body roll than the RRS. Sad 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool
