Hi Col

No I was not able to get the electric struts to work , I'm using the original gas struts, however the 2012 tailgate is much lighter ( aluminium) once pressed on key fob or middle tailgate it automatically lifts anyway really pleased with the outcome.
I will finish it tomorrow

How did you cope with the hinges? I believe the single-piece tailgate hinges are different, or is it a matter of removing the old and putting the new one in? (and then spending hours adjusting the gaps). Regards etc.,

Hi mate I used the 2012 tailgate hinges as they are a one piece hinge, rather than the 2 piece on the older models which has a second hinge for the upper tailgate glass.
It was a like for like bolt on no gaps and is a lot lighter as well. The only hard bit was re-wiring my tailgate harness to suite the new style opening catch. If your no good at wiring you can just use the key fob as this releases the main striker plate which holds the tailgate down
This is why it took all day as I re-wired the harness. I must say the silver strip is. now in line with the cars curves above the rear lights. Looking forward to putting the lettering on today I'll update with pictures.

Please no more expense I need a 2012 load cover as its slightly different as the old style has the cut out for the upper tailgate wiper cover
