I thought it comes as standard on the autobiography.

In case you're trying to get it to open by 'kicking' right at the back of the vehicle... you need to make the kicking motion on either side of the rear of the car - just behind the rear mud-flaps.

I think there's a supplement to the owner manual on Topix that gives more detail if this doesn't work.

^^^ This ^^^ You need to kick towards the left tyre with your left foot and the right tyre with your right foot at the same time. Once mastered, it's a great feature.

I kick "inwards" from the side of the car, works like that for me? Just behind the rear wheels. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Mine works OK, in fact when the car broke down on Sunday the gesture tailgate and locking system were the ONLY things left working. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018

Hi Jock,

Dealer cannot replicate the fault, however the fault codes and the video I took of the instrument panel with all the warnings before it shut down have been sent to LR tech for evaluation. According to the In Control App the car has traveled 9 miles this morning and is currently parked at the back of M&D's place.

In the mean time the Shogun if proving great fun, bit like a more luxurious version of a Defender. Considering its 3.2 litres it a bit sluggish, to overtake you need to plan ahead and then make an appointment but then maybe I drive too fast anyway.

It occurred to me that it could be down to one's shoe size. Perhaps I should conduct a poll for the shoe size of those who have a gesture tailgate to establish of the correct operability has anything to do with the size of one's feet.

It took me a good while to get it to work. I probably have a success rate of about 80% now.

I stand to the side and behind the mud flap kick my foot in and out pretty quickly. If I "linger" it does not work.

Have to be careful because I've kicked the rocker panel twice accidentally Laughing Fortunately no damage done. 2016 SCV8 Dynamic - Firenze Red/Pimento
