In case you're trying to get it to open by 'kicking' right at the back of the vehicle... you need to make the kicking motion on either side of the rear of the car - just behind the rear mud-flaps.

^^^ This ^^^ You need to kick towards the left tyre with your left foot and the right tyre with your right foot at the same time. Once mastered, it's a great feature. |

I kick "inwards" from the side of the car, works like that for me? Just behind the rear wheels. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I must have special feet as it works to both open and close mine every time. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Mine works OK, in fact when the car broke down on Sunday the gesture tailgate and locking system were the ONLY things left working. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018

It occurred to me that it could be down to one's shoe size. Perhaps I should conduct a poll for the shoe size of those who have a gesture tailgate to establish of the correct operability has anything to do with the size of one's feet.

It took me a good while to get it to work. I probably have a success rate of about 80% now.
