First time I used my MY16 wipers they kept stopping in a strange place and I thought they were broken. Winter mode was on in the dash info screen! Turned off and all fine. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys. |

Winter mode only affects the front wipers I believe.

Good news. The temperature doesn't affect it. It is a mode you activate yourself so you can lift the wipers off the screen to clear snow. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys. |

I haven't had to do it yet on my RRS2 but on both Evoques that i have owned you have to set the wipers to the winter setting BEFORE you even attempt to lift them off the glass to clean/ change the rubbers. If you don't you will at least damage the paintwork on the the edge of the bonnet of an Evoque at worst you will also damage the wiper arm by bending it too much trying to get enough clearance from the glass to change the rubbers! Another Great Design feature from Land Rover....... also if you are putting the wipers into the winter park position then switch off the wiper auto on function for them too. If you don't and the rubbers freeze to the glass, the second that you press the starter button the wiper will try to wipe the ice off the screen. Switching back to manual operation prevents damage to the rubbers when frozen and the winter park position means that the blades are parked on top of the lower part of the screen heater elements and will get defrosted as the screen defrosts. I have also found that Halfords sells quite a good "night before" screen spray that you spray over the screen and the chemical will prevent the blades and the screen from freezing, however if the temperature rises and there is drizzle or rain then the spray gets washed off the screen rendering it useless should the temperatures then plummet. So set your wipers back to Manual on before a frosty night to avoid wearing out the rubbers when they grate across the screen in the morning because you forgot to switch it off! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Autobiography... very interesting .. On my own car yesterday morning I went to use the read wiper and wash, it worked for 3-4 squirts of the washer/wipe then the rear wiper stopped completely.. The washer jet still worked but no wiper. Ironically this happened on its way into the dealer where it was going to be looked at for floppy leather and intermittent DAB radio.. So the issue of the wiper has been also given to the dealer to fix. Also of note.. once at the dealer, I turned the ignition off and then back on and it all started working again??.

Well the car has been with Taunton Land Rover for over a week and they say they can not replicate the fault of the intermittent rear wiper failure. Not happy, this is yet another nail in the coffin with Land Rover.. I have experienced the same problem on my 16MY. I have to turn the car off and back on again to get the rear wiper to work. Did the dealer find a solution to the problem? I haven't taken my car in to them yet. |

Hi , its happened three times now. My dealer can not find the fault and says there is no fault code recorded!. They say there is nothing else they can do unless more owners with the same fault start reporting it to Land Rover. !. D4 2012 Santorini Black gone

Happened to me twice now. Each time it restarts after an engine stop and restart.

That's true but then again I also had, DAB radio blanking out, interior burning plastic smell, floppy leather on seats and front parking sensors switching off as "add on" extras... kind of get one fault and another 3 (non related) faults free... D4 2012 Santorini Black gone
