Muddy - definitely time for you to leave the brand. Life's to short and I think you're marriage with alR has run its course and I'm not sure you'll be happy.

Hat said BKHK raises a good point, why not negotiate a string deal on the Loaner you have?

Failing that, get on the phone to Audi and get a test drive in an SQ5. That will put a smile on your face. Similar sized to to DS. Circa 5 seconds 0-60. Unquestionable build quality......you know you want to. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

It is interesting how many old boys stay on this forum to criticise the JLR brand....obviously because the foreign purchases they bought clearly attract a different type of owner and their forum must be crap....

Stick with it....the DS is a great car and the delay in supply is because JLR have made it better.... Very Happy

Whilst disappointing you have had free use of another car... The DS is sought after and resale values will hold up as a result!

Ignore the naysayers and let them get back to their ' where can I get my back sac and crack permed thread on their own forums! Very Happy Very Happy

FC I agree that it is great that MW had a free car for months (muddywheels have you checked they won't charge you for the courtesy DS if you reject yours?). LRs hold their values a lot better than the competition - also agreed.

Don't you think the rest of what you said was a bit unfair FC? I am still an RRS owner, love it and been super happy with all 3 I've had so far. However, I voted for muddy to jump ship. Reason is simple: my feelings about the brand will change if I start having unacceptable problems with the car or the dealer. At the end of the day it is a tool and for me the most important thing is for it to be able to do its job when I need/want it to. I don't have the time and energy that is required every time it goes back to the dealer. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

You are right and I was just provoking a reaction.... I would have the raging hump being messed about like that but in the same context I'm sure there are significant reasons for the delay...does anyone actually know what it is? Is it more than coincidental that the delays kicked in immediately after the VW fiasco ....

But to all those who no longer own a JLR product and have gone off and bought something significantly better move along there's nothing to see here! Very Happy Very Happy

....because with your 50 odd posts since May'15, this would be a cracking forum if everyone who'd moved on didn't post Whistle Rolling Eyes Laughing
Anyway.......

Fact is there are better and of course worse cars out there. Having had a RRS1, I loved it, we also have a D4 currently and have had FFRR's in the past and will no doubt have more, but I digress, I think Muddy has come to the end of the line with JLR. Just too many incidents over the last couple of years.......but only you can decide Muddy Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

BKHK - I'm well aware it comes with a warranty having spent far too much of my life dropping off and picking up my first RRS so would rather not do it again

If I'd had a loan car since June like you say I'd be a lot happier but in reality it was October I got it after threatening to cancel my order due to missed delivery date

I have already asked to keep the loaner but been told it's a demonstrator and not for sale

Why should I accept LR won't tell me what was wrong with the vehicle I'm paying £40k for?

I've had an Ewok loaner and wouldn't buy one as it's horrible compared to the DS or RRS I sold Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I feel that pain Muddy, my first RRS was out of action for 3 months then got "replaced" by LR.

Is the DS really 40 thousand quid in the UK? Thats quite big dough for a 2.0 Freelander replacement. I would still try to negotiate to buy the loaner, do you think they will budge if you threaten to walk?

Good luck anyway mate, I was taking the Michael a little in a friendly way Laughing

BKHK - Sorry I was feeling a bit Censored off so I didn't see the funny side of your post however a after a few drinks and some chill time I can now Embarassed

Due to waiting list on DS discounts are hard to come by and demos are selling for more than list so a deal is unlikely on the loaner - I negotiated £2.5k off my order so will be hard to beat that Confused

Thanks everyone for your input - will see what dealer says tomorrow and decide what to do next Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Why did you use a dealer in Wales? I could have put you in touch with my dealer in Yorkshire. They would have looked after you. Thumbs Up

I tried local but everyone said new model no discounts and waiting list plus offered nothing for my RRS Confused

I did deal through ukcarbroker who offered big discount and September delivery but like me he's been let down by LR on lots of orders. He even sorted me some accessories when I queried his discount had increased after I placed my order so I can't blame him for the current situation. This is down to Stratstone and LR which is a poor combination in my experience Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Looks like you'd have been better keeping the RRS and paying for a decent warranty... Big Cry 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

RRSTDV8, Muddy's RRS was only 2 year old when he got rid of it, so it was still in warranty. I think he had some sort of a 50% deal on it at the time over a 2 year period, hence why he started shopping around for a replacement. Big Cry

The last RRS still had warranty and no problems but I was selling the caravan, buying another house and increasing my mileage so the DS seemed a good choice Sad

It's the dealer and LRCS who have caused the problems yet again - such a shame the designers are working to launch improved models but it falls apart afterwards Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
